Tory austerity. Now Labour austerity. Still austerity. Let's stop making nonsense rules and actually fund public services.

Ingenious little #GreenMan and ox carvings peeping out from the ancient stone font in the great Norfolk church Holy Trinity, Loddon. #churchspotting

It's not complicated.

“If you had to guess the leading cause of death for children and young people around the world, what would you say? Malaria perhaps? Pneumonia? Suicide? They’re all high up there, but no, it’s road accidents.”

Yesterday, Cllr Heather Mack visited Bristol Waste’s processing centre to find out exactly how they collect and process Bristol’s recycling. ♺ Did you know that in Bristol we sell our recycling to help fund the collection service?

Interesting. Ryanair removing some flight routes because of high taxes. Suggests that if environmental taxes were applied, airlines would fly fewer planes... How about it?

Oil and gas industry lies exposed 👇 @lornaslater.bsky.social

Deeply moving thread on the ruinous path that’s led us to the current state of affairs. I’ve been part of the environmental movement since the late ‘80s. Like George, I too ‘dearly wish we had been wrong. It's horrifying to witness the trends we spotted way back progressing so fast and so far…’

In the future, you can catch GBR trains at GBR stations along the GBR track. www.gov.uk/government/c... However, the rolling stock will still be owned by private corporations that extract maximum profit from Great British Railways. Why not nationalise the whole industry @teamlabouruk.bsky.social?

Send a message to giant companies ripping us off. On Feb. 28, don't shop online, in big box stores, no Amazon, no Walmart, no Best Buy, fast food nor gas. Just one day will send a powerful message. Think they'll miss our DEI dollars? Don't spend. Then, let them know why.

Cars are getting 1cm wider every two years. That may not sound much, but over time it adds up, and they're showing no signs of slowing down 😬 That's #carspreading. Our new campaign is calling on city leaders to make parking policies fairer by varying costs based on the size of a car. Why? 🧵1/8

"There is widespread scepticism that it’s possible for the Government to meet its climate commitments while permitting around 2,000 additional flights a day at Britain’s biggest airport."

Roads quieter in London this morning? Fewer cars on the road, can't put your finger on why? Well I am happy to help

Well done to those got involved in the #DumpDrax action this week - telling Ed Milliband that we have to stop burning trees. Here's photos from London & South Shields 👇 Labour has just decided to hand billions more to Drax, the UK’s single largest carbon emitter.

Genius…😂

I clearly don’t know what’s good for me & nor does @jdportes.bsky.social because on 15th of May we will be debating that Matt Goodwin guy & Nadim Zahawi about immigration 😅 Would dearly love there to be a friendly crowd! Tickets: howtoacademy.com/events/welco...

This feels like the tobacco lobby all over again: “The level of access and potential influence given to the fossil fuel and aviation industries by ICAO is extremely concerning and risks the capture of global climate negotiations by vested interests." Story by @dpcarrington.bsky.social

Electric cars will not fix this growing issue. In fact, they will make it worse due to their increased weight. Unless we *significantly* decrease the size of new EVs, of course, which means mini-cars and ebikes need to be our future.

Happy Valentine’s Day all 💚

We’re on the brink of stopping new oil and gas drilling for good. Rosebank’s approval has been overturned in the courts, and it falls to Starmer’s government to decide whether to re-approve it or not. 🧵👇

"This is explicitly a Statement making mayors the agents of the priorities of central government." @nataliegreenpeer.bsky.social breaks down the Government's anti-democratic 'devolution' plans that only shift power away from communities.

Food for thought. 11 million cells phones are tossed out each day. Many people just upgrade because they can. Check out the documentary called buy more. Shows how dubious Amazon and others are out to get our hard earned 💸💸💸💸

Bristol Airport’s plane stupid expansion will mean more carbon emissions, more night flights, more cars on overstretched roads. And all in a #climatecrisis. Join us in our campaign against these reckless plans… #stopairportexpansion

🚨 A majority of the public don't want it and the science clearly shows it would be a disaster for the climate. 🤯 But Labour are supporting Heathrow expansion anyway...

If this were Just Stop Oil, there'd have been dozens of arrests, furious denunciations in the billionaire press and, perhaps, long jail sentences. Farmers have a right to protest, and the police respect it. Other people, it seems, not so much. The real #TwoTierPolicing www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/...
