Opinion ≈ News. Their newsroom is still worth supporting. If you want to punish Bezos, go after Amazon.

Reporters don’t write the opinion pages. They are separate in all major newsrooms. WaPo has one of the best newsrooms and that at least seems (so far) largely intact.

And yes, we need to stop using Amazon. Fully. If we can’t do that, we are just as complicit in Trump’s economic and media takeover as we were before cutting our ties to WaPo. (5/5)

If we are un-subscribing to WaPo and putting that into our virtue-signaling posts, we’d also better be specifying which widely read investigative journalists we are funding instead. And upping our funding of investigative journalists overall. (4/5)

I cut off my subscription back in November. But today, I am re-subscribing. Instead, I am canceling Amazon and using eBay or better yet shopping local (or not at all). (3/5)

If you want to show Bezos what you think of his politics, the answer is not to cut the resources used by many excellent investigative journalists — who have nothing to do with the editorials no one reads anyway. The answer is to stop using Amazon. (2/5)

The reporting staff is. The op-ed page was changed, not the newsroom. Don’t expect investigative journalism unless it is funded. Amazon is where Bezos makes his money anyway - news is a charity business at this point.

The target of boycotts should be Amazon. Not journalism.

And if you *definitely* don’t want him to have your personal DOB, social security and bank account numbers. Or the same sensitive data of your loved ones. If one person has all the power, what could possibly go wrong? (2/2) [Graphic by Jeff Fischer]

Unearned income is just that - unearned. Stock market profits should not be taxed at half the rate of your paycheck. As the Bible says: Unto whom much is given, much shall be required. Our schools, roads, public safety and health care systems deserve to be funded, and funded fairly. (3/3)

It is simple: No working person should ever pay a greater share of their income in total taxes than a billionaire - or a corporation. If anything the wealthy should pay a far greater share than they do. (2/3)
