Hmmm I'm trying to remember what came after the Roaring 20's. šŸ¤” I think it was pretty bad...

Yep. For mid to high earners, 85% of SS benefits are currently taxable. But because that percentage is ramped in, people living entirely or primarily on SS are already not going to have their benefits taxed. (I haven't fully done the math to determine at what income they'd start to be taxed.)

It was a very temporary ā€œcrash,ā€ leading one to wonder who might have bought a bunch after the tariff announcement then sold it after the un-announcement, and whether they might have had advance warning. Just idle speculationā€¦no US President would do anything like that, of courseā€¦

My grandfather had an ancient double-barreled 12-gauge shotgun that kicked like a mule. He liked to say it ā€œcripples in front and kills behind.ā€ Thatā€™s pretty much how tariffs work.

Serious answer? Yes, itā€™s bad.

Sadly, ā€œgovernmentā€ will also be a roadblock to any potential governmental action.

ā€œStupidā€ is a word weā€™re going to have to get used to, Iā€™m afraid.

Cool. Might I suggest cognitive testing for CEOs next?
