4/4. In Chap 15 @sexhistorian.bsky.social interrogates the concept of experiential expertise in terms of safe sex practices among women who have sex with women:

Today's #ArchiveAdventCalender is another 'High speed gas' advert, this time focused on cooking, it uses some very authentic voxpops to sell gas.
One voxpop excitedly exclaims 'you can even boil eggs' with gas, & describes a cooker as 'funky' - so I'm sold! π₯π₯

Woops, missed a day again, was too busy trying (and failing) to do Christmas crafting.
Here's Sunday's #ArchiveAdvertCalendar from 'Homefire coal' which was apparently 'available throughout the galaxy' according to this very silly alien-themed advert.

Today's #ArchiveAdventCalendar features a cat enjoying 'high speed gas'! Warmth everywhere for everyone...
Also, here's a bonus picture of my cat Mori lounging in front of the radiator. #Caturday

Today's #ArchiveAdventCalendar is another gem from the 'Solid Fuel Advisory Service' - arguing again that coal was 'The Fuel of the Future'. #HSTM #HistSci #HistTech

Today's #ArchiveAdventCalendar is pure nightmare fuel - from the Solid Fuel Advisory Service - 'curl up in front of a real fire' with your gang of haunted toys.

Have another 'Cook Electric' advert for today's #ArchiveAdventCalendar - this one has dancing and a song!

And then for today's #ArchiveAdvent - A Norweb 'Cook Electric' advert, which I can only assume is responsible for my mum thinking its okay to 'poach' fish in the microwave (it isn't, she's a vandal).

Just think, if you apply, you might get paid to explain this absolute monstrosity of an advert for hot water!

Curious about my work on queer women's health? Read my article βThe Wild Women of the West (Midlands)β where I chat about how some very cool Birmingham dykes defined queer health & activism in the 1990s. #HistMed #HistSex #LGBTQ

If you don't feel like reading, watch my talk with Janet Weston at the Wellcome on less told histories of HIV. #HistMed #HistSex
Here I also spoke about queer women's health activism, based on my work for the 'Cultural History of the NHS' project.

Before 'Carbon Bodies', I researched the history of HIV-affected families in Edinburgh, looking at how they were built and maintained through love, care and activism.
