The Aberystwyth and Tregaron Bank, also known as Banc y Ddafad Ddu, was established in Aberystwyth, during the early 19th century. The number of sheep featured on the bank note corresponded to its value in pounds. BMSS/61

@thoafood.bsky.social nitpick on Episode 94 - the War of 1812 was not over when the Battle of New Orleans was fought. The Treaty of Ghent took effect when ratified by both sides. It didn't arrive in the US (in NYC, not DC) until 2/11. Congress ratified it on 2/15, well after the 1/8 battle.
