So ICE is now more powerful than a sitting US senator? I hope every democrat congressperson stands up for their colleague and demands accountability for what happened to Alex Padilla. They won’t but I wish they would.

Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

He means "the government can snatch brown people off the street and send them to a gulag in a foreign country forever, whether or not they committed a crime, and even whether or not they're a citizen". People would be a lot more concerned if they understood what this really meant.
