And 3) I AM AN AZULA FAN! Big fan of hers! One of my favourite characters in the show! One of my top ten villains of all time! I freaking love Azula!
So, if anyone’s getting tossed on the garbage heap, it’s me. It’s my garbage heap! I am queen of Azula garbage mountain!
Thank you for your time.

I think it's SO strange that out of all characters in that show...everyone is obsessed with the Literal Fascist. like she is based in Actual Fascist ideology that has appeared in Real Life (including nazism). like. she had concentration camps.

like he actually disgusts me more than Amon did. using your own family as disposable pawns is so gross, especially because korra just wanted someone to believe in her as she *was* #LoK #LegendofKorra

"i've never *physically* hurt anyone" is SUCH a funny distinction to make. like man KNOWS what he did

My GOD, these streaming networks really are doing everything to destroy avatar's legacy and reputation, from hardcore advertising that failed live-action show to this to barely platforming seven haven's announcement. It's horrible.

Honestly, even though the show takes place in non-Christian inspired cultures (though the show itself is still western) the way that Unalaq is portrayed through evangelicalism and actually starting a "holy war" in the name of the spirits, his appearance screams Christian Fascism to me too.

I think one interpretation of it has to do with how detransition will never lead to a "healthy" cis person, and how trying to force it will instead lead to a dead trans person. (implying suicide)

really good legend of korra opinions!!

anyways, i just think that overall, the fandom needs to recognize unalaq as the very VERY calculating, repetitive abuser he is, instead of blaming other people (but ESPECIALLY korra. that girl is 17)

-because the Avatar State works in a way that when you have control over it, it's the human who's fully in charge, combined with the fact that Vaatu was reliant on Unalaq to free him, meant that Unalaq had a lot of control over him. I just think s2 has a lot of themes of abuse in it overall.

Yep! And the scenes afterwards that show Unalaq sort of expanding into this big....thing that looks really weird and tbh pretty ugly. But also, even though it's not as concrete as a single scene, Unalaq talks a lot about how much control he'll have and has leverage over Vaatu because he's imprisoned

(sorry that sounds REALLY passive aggressive and I didn't mean it that way 😭 the character limit flattens my tone)

hi i am and have been saying this but only if you're ready for the conversation that unalaq forcibly fusing with vaatu who had shown no such desire to do so (where to the point that zaheer commented it was out of left field) and forming a massive twisted person who looks like unalaq is also a rape.

On the other hand, the rawest, realest version of Korra grappling with PTSD, in my opinion, is also the version of her who is the least palatable and considered the most "bitchy": during Season 2. Her anger response to having no control and being groomed by her uncle is realistic, and undercredited.
