Sorry, I’m not on bluesky very much, but the project has closed

Advocates for Trans Equality is the only site that had consistently good information. We found a few mistakes, but not that many — And if you find a mistake through their site — They ask you to report it

Call on all local and national orders to take down their informational pages that they do not have the resources to update. You can start with GLAD Law cause I am fucking tired of yelling at nonprofits Educate people on how AI is making bad information look good again.

But at this point there are still a lot of things people can try to do if you feel helpless. Cleaning up the Internet, so that AI has the right stuff to model on would help for sure.

And only now —- three months later — are people seeing how much this work is needed and it’s too late. You really let your followers down by not giving them the correct information.

And we sent out information campaigns to like every influencer, org. and person, with a profile that we could think of — And a bunch of them just ignored it — or worse argued or said “they were doing their own thing or had their own info”

And we helped thousands of people and I’ll be proud of that forever, but we could’ve helped many many more. Because we were canary in the coal mining it all the time

And we spent an inordinate amount of time on RESET — Finding out where they got their information and then showing that it wasn’t true and then getting them back on track to get their gender marker corrected.
comment in response to post
And let me tell you —- it’s not easy to convince someome that Hollywood writer is right and GLAD law is wrong But Hollywood writer was right and GLAD Law was wrong
comment in response to post
And we had 20 people helping people individually, but a good chunk of our work was crushing all these false sites and preconceived notions. We created this workflow called Reset — Where, instead of helping people based on where they were at and removing barriers — We had to get them to square one

And I personally found myself radicalized. watching trans org just do what they normally do and not helping fucking anybody. And trans influencers were like “get your documents changed” with no instruction
comment in response to post
Under the Biden administration you could self select gender markers across all federal documents with no legal or medical proof or any other documents changed. But most trans people didn’t know this — because when they went to the sites they were presented with old information — burdensome process

oh fantastic! sorry, I’m responding to a lot of people right now. we made a know your rights packet to help people navigate this. You probably know that you just need your ID and a completed SS5 form. Www.bitedown.org/edc

Also, what’s stopping you for making an appointment? Can I get you the local number? Why don’t you DM me on Instagram and I can find the local number for you and tell you how to get an appointment ASAP
comment in response to post
They do not give you a QR code proof of appointment — at some locations. They have a QR code for filling out your application online and requesting an appointment online. However, gender markers are not available on the online application .

It sounds like your particular Social Security office is very busy, but we can provide local numbers and some people need to go on road trips. You don’t have to update your Social Security card where you live.

We’ve been helping people all over the country with this. In every case where somebody told the guard they have an appointment and just walked in —it has worked Several weeks ago, the guards were more hard-core, but they’ve been told to back off
comment in response to post
OK, fantastic
comment in response to post
My DM’s on Insta I have all the local numbers we can get you into that office and get your gender corrected before the rules change
comment in response to post
I’m so sorry to hear about your experiences. We’ve been helping people with local numbers and getting appointments for months. Drop into my DM’s if you haven’t gotten this corrected yet and let’s get this done
comment in response to post
Literally yesterday, but also do it today

I posted a delighted video on my Instagram. Thank you so much

I mean, I wish justice worked this way for most people but yes
comment in response to post
Great now I’m gonna move on and try to help people
comment in response to post
Maybe you have time to waste, but I don’t
comment in response to post
Stop being a fucking asshole. I told you they can DM me too, and my Instagram is not sketch at all. Your ignorance should not be an impediment to people getting help
comment in response to post
Thank you! Unverifiable news articles are propaganda and press release machines. Especially in transphobic foreign publications. Clearly, this is something that we need to address as a community over the next four years
comment in response to post
And the Venmo link is to help nine people out of our team of 20 who have financial need because everybody’s exhausted because we’ve been working over weekends and holidays for months helping people get their gender marketers corrected
comment in response to post
And if you have any problem googling me or misunderstanding my dedication to trans folks and my history then that’s a separate issue but Bite Down is my organization and I am me and I’m asking you to help me help people. because you’re claiming that people are having issues and we can help them
comment in response to post
The fact that you’re ignorant about our project helping thousands of people is not my problem. You seem to wanna be argumentative and this is not going to help anybody . We shut that project down after the inauguration — but people can still DM the project or DM me
comment in response to post
From what I've seen in the replies, it often just sent people into defeatist spirals rather than do anything. I understand the panic, but awareness (with mistakes) without action resources doesn't help.
comment in response to post
Individual white trans influencers are not it. Trans organizations that constantly just share anxious news posts are not it. We need an authoritative information. We need patient and precise wording for our community. We need actionable items. We need a lot of this on the down low.
comment in response to post
Tell them to DM me personally or they can DM Bite Down on insta www.instagram.com/bitedownorg?...
comment in response to post
I’m constantly getting first hand information in the DM’s every half hour or so from the thousands of people that we’ve helped. As of 2 PM and this afternoon, no one has reported a single rejection beyond the occasional under trained or misinformed worker
comment in response to post
If you want to help the community, please send me links to the people that you’re talking about because we can help them. We can remove barriers. We helped thousands of people get their documents corrected and we are providing information to people.
comment in response to post
Who’s having issues? Link to every single person having issues and my organization will help them out
comment in response to post
OK, fantastic

We’ve had people report misinformation from federal employees in the middle of Brooklyn, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles — and an anxious trans person went into a passport acceptance agency in Georgia and their passport acceptance agent was also trans
comment in response to post
We’ve helped thousands of people get their gender markers corrected in the rural list, parts of every red state in the middle of Arkansas and they’ve all gotten it corrected every single one. There has been no pattern with federal employees as to which ones are untrained where
comment in response to post
You can get your gender marker corrected with Social Security and on a passport in all 50 states with no legal or medical proof or any other documents having been corrected You can go to your local Social Security office tomorrow and get your gender marker corrected
comment in response to post
If your passport was issued less than 15 years ago, and you were over the age of 16 when it was issued, you can still renew by mail even if it’s expired
comment in response to post
I did thanks I’m gonna try to figure out who this is and try to get them some help
