I'm really curious in hearing what works for you. I think my issue is partly psychological - my mom told me a lot of food was too "fancy" for us, so I often feel guilt in buying nicer food that may cost more even if it's better for me. Lots of layers, though. I'm so happy to hear you've found a way!

Thank you for all of your advice!!! I need to jump back on the food prep train. A lot of things sound hard to start, but then I realize how much easier they make my life while I'm in it.

That all sounds great, thank you!!
I've never actually used curry paste π
is it complicated to prepare?

the closest I've come was actually like 3 months ago, when I started making batches of rice daily! It became a lot easier to prepare a protein or veggies when I already had that part done. A lot less daunting. Dunno why I stopped ._.
do you have any fave veggies to go with rice/ways to prepare them?

**meant to write "disordered eating."
some sites seem to think it's an ED, but I just literally forget food and the concept of eating well. It is NOT a thought in my head.
and then I scramble to eat whatever's closest when I'm starving. And emotional eat/binge at night. I wanna be healthy π₯²

I'm a late bloomer in everything, and that includes realizing how I'm feeling. My body feels like shit when I live off of chips and junk food. I want to feel and live my best, and that will also give me more stamina for DDR!
I need to do these things while also remaining kind & forgiving to myself.

My family never gathered around for meals together (only on holidays). I don't know what it's like to do regular grocery shopping and put together meals on a regular basis. I start to feel like an Actual Adult when I've done food prep a couple days in a row. Need to figure out how to keep it up.

I subsisted on a lot of scraps and snacks growing up, with an inconsistent meal schedule. Disorganized eating is what I always default to. I often forget that I can eat/that I deserve real & good food unless my partner puts some in front of me. I want to work hard to shift this.

I'd never heard of this little chef or his show before, but this definitely got the waterworks going. What the hell, Nick πππ

Dude, I would too!
He mentioned having to either quit or severely cut back on drinking, though, so maybe something like a zero-proof beer or a mocktail would be best π

-- The flight time flew by before I knew it. We were laughing and also sharing sobering truths, like how he was bummed to not get a job at the Bronx zoo, but the person who got it instead was mauled by a tiger 6 weeks later. Yikes!!!
I'm glad I opened up. People can be cool.

I shared that I hope leaning on local community can get us through whatever is coming next.
I will admit, I'm not usually the first person to want to talk to strangers. But I stepped out of my comfort zone a bit, and met a new person who shares quite a lot of the same views as me. I was surprised.-

-- He shared how his brother owns the patents for car back-up cameras, and a chip in the Mars rover. And we talked politics, and loss of hope. He said he noticed a pattern, that we enter a new big war every 80 years or so -- about every four generations. He said he doesn't know how we'll get out. --
