Definitely not Adam Gase. Not Mickey Callaway either. Mets, Jets, NY Rangers, and the US of A.

Yes, but do it without giving him too many years. 4 year deal sounds about right.

The NL in general is obscene. At this point, maybe 2 AL teams are acting like they want to win, while that number is more like 10 in the NL. I think a case could be made that 5-6 NL teams would be opening day ALCS favorites if they swapped leagues.

Rangers have been waiting for the other shoe to drop for years now. The team was never good enough to win a cup, but kept doubling down with NMC contracts for players like Zibanejad and Trocheck that left no room to fundamentally change anything about the roster. They badly need to fully reset.

Oh heck yeah, Mets.

Was it ever confirmed that the Mets leaks were exaggerated & used as excuses by the Wilpons to back away?

The calendar turns to December and the scarves come out immediately, eh?

NYY, without Soto, would be back to being way too right handed in that ballpark. I don’t think they seriously go for him. Could definitely see the Cubs paying up for Pete though…or maybe Seattle or the Angels.

Oh I agree with you, and to be clear I’m not suggesting this as a serious offer. Just saying if given the choice between shorter term/bigger AAV and longer term/lighter AAV, I’m paying him the money and walking away after 3-4 years rather than signing him to a long term deal.

I’d give Pete whatever AAV he wants on a 4 year deal. Like 4 years, $200M 🤣. Very much out on a long term, 6-7 year deal for him unless the AAV is low enough that the extra years are painless.

“Never stood a chance” is a bit much. JD was Jets GM for 6+ seasons. Woody is the absolute worst but he wasn’t even around for JD’s first few seasons. Woody may have sabotaged this season with his meddling, but JD dug his own grave with terrible decisions for years before this one.

Great to reconnect with the President on here. Was concerned he was out of my life forever.

Presumably he’ll be meeting with the BiD crew in the coming days.

Agreed. They’ve needed this for a long, long time.

I can only wish this were true. Unfortunately the franchise has been a disgraceful dumpster fire for the vast majority of its existence, including/especially the last 15 years. If Rodgers were the entire problem, the Jets would actually be in great shape. The whole organization is rotten to its core

Mendoza was deserving for sure, but I’ll take this as a trade for Buck winning an undeserved one in 2022. If Lindor finishes third though… 😬

Saving my righteous indignation for when Lindor somehow comes in 3rd for NL MVP

I’ll never forget when he wrote in his season preview that Sean Avery would have a 40 goal season in 2010

Is he not physically capable of throwing the ball down the field at this point? Sure looks like it, whether it’s due to injury or age or whatever. Never thought “run run pass” would be reduced to “run run screen pass” but here we are.

The vapid new stadium is the perfect embodiment of what that franchise has become, along with the CV Starr patches. It’s a fortress that exists to separate the masses from anyone in the premium seats (which are usually half full at best) and the players. Such a downgrade.

Only if Pete Carroll or some other respected head of football ops makes the independent decision to hire him. This should be obvious but of course it’s the Jets, so I’m expecting the next coach to be hired by the business side.

It’s a great question. We need some big FA or trade news to break in order to determine this.

The box (both on TV and with things like MLB the Show) also impacts the way kids learn baseball. My son is astonished when the 12 year old umpire doesn’t have an absolutely impeccable box-like strike zone in his little league games. No room for trickery or interpretation.
