#booksky very excited to read this! Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s new novel is a feminist War and Peace — Dream Count review www.thetimes.com/article/1dea...

@academic-chatter.bsky.social some good news, as ephemeral as it might be!

a good part of me thinks that in addition to everything else, the reason they are scrubbing these stories is they do not want disadvantaged kids to believe they can aspire to anything other than their designated “black” or “hispanic” or “woman” job

The UC system released guidelines related to immigration actions on campus. Key points for those of us who work on UC campuses: 1. Our police officers should NOT be working with immigration authorities to remove students. www.universityofcalifornia.edu/frequently-a...

My knee-jerk reaction is that there’s no way this is happening; however, the historian in me screams, oh my God, @jamellebouie.net is absolutely right! #history

#BookSky as a lifelong fan of Milton and a contemporary American historian, I’m very much looking forward to reading this!

Good scoop on how Jon Haidt actually talks about his critics. So much for a good faith scientific debate. @candiceodgers.bsky.social www.crikey.com.au/2024/12/12/a...

#education @neatoday.bsky.social my new book written for undergraduates, exploring the role of broad historical forces on the shaping of education policy, from the colonial era to the Every Student Succeeds Act. Coming out in January!

www.nytimes.com/2024/11/25/o... @nytimes.com this is something worthy of a rainy Sunday morning and the hot beverage of your choice, but a lot of really interesting and jarring ideas about what a second Trump term might mean.

Words to live by! #books @matteristbooks.bsky.social @nyrb-imprints.bsky.social since the election, I have largely abandoned my professional reading of US history and re-immersed myself in my undergraduate love of English literature. 🤷

www.nytimes.com/2024/11/22/o... @jamellebouie.net I love the way you broke down some very complex, minutia in 2 digestible pieces. However the constitution relies on a deficit of Machiavellian characters: I don’t think the framers, or anyone thereafter, imagined this level of concentrated evil.

#education @neatoday.bsky.social I do not understand what’s going on in this country. this era is going to make you pine for the good old days of Betsy DeVos.
