Hard to know. They’ve committed themselves so thoroughly to MAGA, are they capable of backing out? That would cause so much cognitive dissonance, and the politicians have proven themselves to be cowards.

Nervous Musk, Trump, Vance have all been outclassed in public arguments these last few days. Government failure, stock market crash, and dictatorial alliances are not popular. People are starting to realize that there is no truth here beyond the desire for personal wealth and power. (2/2)

I don’t think he’ll be able to do that, no.
If he somehow manages, I hear it’s pretty easy to get prescriptions from Canada if necessary

Do you think Bobby brain worms will be able to deny everyone anti depressants?
Cause if that happens, it'll literally kill my wife, so I'd need to figure out some sort of alternative.

I honestly don’t know. There are a lot of folks feeling the same way, I’m sure.
Spending slowing in January was kind of a shock to the media, but it shouldn’t have been - who is comfortable blowing money with all the uncertainty? I’m not.

How does all this firing not lead to a crashed economy? I’m scared to spend my money right now.

With our entire national security apparatus sold to Putin & the dead bear cub brain worm guy as HHS, some have suggested Dems name alternative secretaries to provide regular public updates and truthful info…Start reminding voters what a competent Democratic government looks like. What do you think?

I fucking hope so.
Otherwise, I maintain the easiest way to get rid of him is to accelerate the Trump/Musk breakup. The President Musk stuff was really driving Trump crazy.

Yes, but that would saddle us with Vance, a younger, smarter fanatic.

Is it bad that my first thought was wondering how well a 79 year old man would handle the flu?

4 unvaccinated teenagers have tragically died from the flu in San Diego. Your thoughts on rfk jr and how this will only get worse?

I’ve had a couple of MAGA voters reach out to me on twitter and express concern over their vote. That’s the only reason I stay on that hellscape - anyone who follows me there will see that most of my time is spent engaging with the MAGA folks who flood my mentions.

Once we’re done with Trump, I think we have a chance to return to normal… ish.
There’s nobody else in the GOP that has his magnetism - they’ve turned their entire identity into kissing Trump’s ass. Their voters don’t show up when he’s not on the ballot.
We just have to survive this term first.

I don’t disagree with you, but it’s going to have to be organized - not just some haphazard BS.

I do, yes.
If we haven’t devolved into chaos in the streets, we’ll have free and fair midterm elections.
And I’m expecting a massive referendum on the first two years of the Trump presidency in them. Dems should easily retake the House if we do our jobs. Senate is tougher.

Do you still think we'll have free and fair midterm elections?

I would say unfuckingbelievable, but it’s completely fucking believable at this point.

Your TSP should be fine, and I haven’t seen them talk about going after FERS yet.
I think a torrent of lawsuits would prevent them from doing anything with FERS, but obviously that’s just speculation on my part.

Potentially. Any collective/mutual defense agreement would be fine, it doesn’t necessarily have to be NATO.
The security guarantee is arguably the easy part. but actually securing Ukraine has to start with an integrated, layered air defense system to keep Russian missiles away from their cities.

Early on, people did tell them to fuck right off. Then the ones who were standing up to DOGE got put on leave and/or fired

I’m definitely not a financial advisor, so really I can just tell folks what I’m doing:
I’m not touching my TSP (401k). It’s invested in mostly the S&P fund and I feel relatively comfortable there. Not worth the penalties to pull it.
I don’t think they’ll touch banks - don’t want to cause a run.

Among my resister friends, panic is beginning to set in about our financial institutions. 401K accounts. Bank’s FDIC insurance. Stocks falling. DonOLD planning to visit Fort Knox to “check” the gold reserves is not helping. Any advice on steps to take? Are these fears justified?

Couple things wrong with what he’s doing there:
An O-9 can’t be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, nor can a retired anything - they’d have to be recalled to active duty and promoted first

Elon is reportedly always higher than a kite.
Trump’s mental state does appear to be deteriorating pretty rapidly, but that’s probably fine since he’s not actually in charge of anything.
Bannon has always been a Nazi.

Are the fElon's mental problems accelerating? & what’s with Elon’s appearing higher than a kite at CPAC? & Bannon’s Nazi salute?

I think so, yes. The GOP is getting absolutely hammered by their constituents at town halls back home.
It’s going to be interesting to see if they have any more of a backbone when they get back to DC. It doesn’t take many Republican defectors to completely change the calculus in DC.

I feel like most of them spent the last four years warning us of the dangers of another Trump presidency.
Bush speaking out would be nice, but he’s apparently content to be a coward.

I think that’s probably coming soon. It’s already showing signs that investors are getting nervous - once the full scale of the layoffs and deportations are felt, it’s probably gonna get ugly.

In these situations, I like to play the ‘if it were true’ game.
If he was a confirmed Russian asset, would he be doing anything differently than what he’s doing now? I can’t think of much.

I’m not part of a monolith. I’m an individual who voted for Carter, Obama, Harris, to name a few. I’ve never voted for a Republican for president. Assuming things about me because of a group I belong to… there’s a word for that. What is it? Oh yeah, prejudice. (“Old fuck” = ageism)
