I work at an institution that uses Augustine's quotes/wisdom a lot. I was excited to find one I hadn't seen before, so that's why I was verifying the source.

It's been a while since I saw an outlet that had what I can safely call journalists with ethical standards. The Times is hit or miss, and same for The Post. I'm impressed with the pedigree of PP's writers so far.

And with @propublica.org, you have a better investigative publication without the Post's compronised ethics.

Did a search and I'm not sure whether he or Francis Bacon coined the phrase.

That's a cool quote. What does it mean?

Still holding you accountable for failing to endorse someone this election. Democracy dies in the darkness-- just some pretty words to you all, with Besos running the show.

I'm not sure I understand what they're talking about. (Is this a post from Blue Sky or somewhere else?)

Eric, I am skeptical that journalism in this form still works. Powerful liars have too many willing accomplices in the media now. However, I am hoping that Murrow's vision for journalist is not dead if enough people will speak truth to power.

At this point, with Bezos owning the WAPO, the last strongholds of journalism have lost credibility. In a critical moment in America's history, WAPO made sure journalism and democracy could die in the darkness.

You owe your readers an explanation of your failings during the 2024 election. If democracy dies in the darkness, you at WAPO are all doing your part to create more shade in which for it to wither.

Karen, agreed. But can we talk about how the Washington Post, at the most critical time in the election, walked away from its editorial duties to ensure democracy doesn't die in the darkness? (to quote the masthead.)

It shall be done!

Go back to Twitter. Nobody needs you here, once you died in the darkness covering this election.

Trying to share the video. There we go!

I need it today. Hopefully he's not finicky about sharing it on Saturday too!

I can't see how his political career survived the accusations of Obama being a Kenyan and pretending to donate millions to see a birth certificate. That was a conversation ender.
