Since she's also a Black woman (likely living in a nearby area), you have to ask yourself if she too is suffering from some of the same despair. Why didn't she suggest long-distance dating to increase your Black dating pool? Perhaps it's ideal, but it's not... that.

I think your therapist meant well, but this suggestion undervalues the inherent risk for harm that comes with... that. It's unfair to expect someone to be alone just because they live in a predominantly yt area. It's also unrealistic to pretend that being alone is worse than... that.

She didn't recognize me since all our sessions are virtual, and I had my hair pulled up. I really wish I had rolled the window down and screamed, "Look! I'm back at the gym," and "I'm so glad to confirm that your wife is Black!" I chose to chill instead, but just wait til my next therapy appt! 😂
