State departments of transportation should consider taking this approach with the interstate highways that were driven through the heart of so many US neighborhoods. Does a highway have substandard lane widths, ramp lengths, etc.? Might be time to remove it. It worked for us here in #SanFrancisco.

Free buses & parking sound great, until you encounter the downside. #Yale offered me free parking at Peabody Museum today, but it was full when I arrived, so I drove in circles for 10 minutes, found a metered spot, & happily paid up. Give $ to poor people, not freebies to men who don’t need it.

When I led the Downtown #Berkeley Parking & Transportation Demand Management Plan, I recommended managing the existing parking supply better instead of building more. Sadly, the city built a new garage at great cost. Today, it’s an underused money-loser. At least we might get more Pickleball fun!
