I find that Boston and New York are able to set aside their differences when it comes to the crucial question of whether LA sucks. That said, I think NY and LA can do the same when it comes to Boston.

One hop this time. Seriously, if any of you motherfuckers hop twice, so help me God, I will end you.

I misspent a significant portion of my adolescence living in an illegal loft at the corner of Moody and Main, and have incredibly fond memories of the Waltham of the 90s. Actually I have no idea what it's like now, given that my family has moved away, and I too have become a (yikes!!!) New Yorker.

Parts of Waltham are Boston. Other parts of Waltham are farmland. But, like, Moody St. is definitely Boston.

The difference is that army units respect the guys shooting at them.

They're totally unwilling to consider the Patriots fans' very reasonable argument that "the Jets suck."

There’s nothing MORE American than telling Tyrants and Fascists to Eat Shit.

I just can't imagine a world in which it matters. If that isn't what they use to demonize the protesters, it will be something else; conversely, I can't imagine anyone watching the protests, inclined to be supportive, and then getting upset over the flag and only the flag.

Funnily enough, I blame Conor Friedersdorf

Counterpoint: "diversity of thought" is the participation-trophy standin for intellectual rigor, because the Megan McArdles of this world and their wealthy benefactors rely on shoddy reasoning and threadbare "evidence" to make their preposterous claims.

⬆️ is why I keep saying too many Dems act like junior members of the governing coalition & not an opposition party. An opposition party would demonize their opponents when they do bad things–not critique the bad things, but say they do bad things cuz they are bad people–& you can't trust bad people…

Marital law is what Stephen Miller wishes he could enforce.

Actual criminals going free helps them, since they're trying to create a hellscape that causes people to hate one another and embrace fascism.

Which is why the opposition needs leadership as well - cohesion and strategy in the face of chaotic evil.

This is why the cops keep trying to provoke a riot, thank God unsuccessfully so far.

Arresting criminals is tricky and potentially dangerous. Arresting decent law-abiding people is easy and safe. And besides, they respect criminals much more than they respect decent law-abiding people.

Yeah! Don't hate on the Geo Metro, that was a humble icon of its frugal generation. The state government of Vermont is a Geo Metro. The Trump federal government is an unsold Cybertruck sitting in a suburban Detroit parking lot in the hot sun with a rotting corpse in the back seat.

I was forced to get another MMR shot when I went to grad school as a thirtysomething, because my pediatrician's office (and hence my immunization records) didn't exist any more, and I was annoyed that I had to do it. But I'm damn glad now!

Another fucking Jared. We really really aren't sending our best... Or worse, what if we are?

We're getting to the point where it's going to be law vs. order.

It is hard to grasp but large masses of Americans are both racist/xenophobic AND not racist/xenophobic enough to applaud what Trump is doing. It's goldilocks shit, they want a level of racism/xenophobia calibrated exactly to their personal preferences, and you just can't make that policy. Don't try.
