30s cis bi guy, new to femboyism. I like trains, technology (not consumer technology, but like, makers/hackers or Linux / CS), and queer stuff Live in 🇦🇺, but want to move to Germany in a couple years. Native German speakers may correct my German writing

yeah, but there's a lot of steps between the billionaire and people who do pay taxes That said, I like the idea. It sounds like the plot to a greek comedy
comment in response to post
yeah, except most tax dodging billionaires don't really care what the hoi polloi think of them. I can only think of Musk, and maybe Zuck

The fun thing is when they try to copy us and invent what they think the English word would be, but get it soooo wrong XD for example, I'm typing this on my Handy (as in hand held telephone) The only other example I know is 'Beamer'. Which is the device that shoots beams of light at a screen

I like trains, I work with trains. My ex was my bf, then my enby partner, then my partner with a partner, now she's transfem (after we separated, but we're still super close) :3

It sounds like they are stealing "they" Which I guess makes sense. Germans live stealing english words for newer things: Website, Fitnessstudio, Computer But I can't be too judgemental about stealing words

Would you use 'sein'? z.b. Ich liebe sein Kleidung

When the person owns something. "That is their mower" "I like their hat"

This challenges me/this challenges what I thought were concrete rules of how the world works Everyone has that impulse to resist overhauling their worldview. Some people are less open to doing the work of trying to understand when presented with new data

I find when people say that you can tell that don't really believe it (they've jumped to that conclusion because they're uncomfortable and don't know why). Because you can point out a tonne of ways the language has changed that they're fine with. I truly think the root cause is "this challenges me"
comment in response to post
Cool. How does that work with possessive?

It's not even a fully 'right' position. I've seen nominally liberal (let's not debate if liberals are right or left at this time) people make this argument I think it stems more from reaction to a new concept that challenges the framework people have. The same effect as:

Eh, kinda. But you get idiots in English who say "BuT 'tHeY' iS FoR PlUrAl oNlY So yOu sHoUlD SaY 'iT'", despite the fact that singular 'they' predates 'you' (to make this claim they should be saying 'thou' for singular second person)
