Omfg. Ian Flynn and the other writers write these characters how SEGA wants them written. He is one of many writers for Sonic and doesn't even actually work for SEGA or IDW. He is a freelance writer and Sonic isn't even the only thing he does. He can't just do that kind of stuff. Please just stop.

Because not as many people read the comics. The characters are slowly appearing in more media but it's just a fact that more people are gonna know Tails than Whisper. Iizuka and SEGA have shown interest in bringing the IDW cast into the games. It's just choosing how to do it.
