I'm sure it'll pick up at some point in the game, but it goes to show that maybe Falcom bit off a little more than they could chew when they jumped to both 3D and into the CS arc for the Trails series

Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but in a contiguous series like Trails, the story being mid in the 7th entry (with the 6th entry being kinda mid and 1-5 being top tier) is somewhat disheartening.

None of the main cast got any spotlight and the main plot move forward a little. I am starting to see why a lot of people find the story to be much weaker than other entries. The gameplay continues to be the best part.

And then one of the Eagles players shows up on the field with the seven Chaos Emeralds and Open Your Heart plays.

One of the best coaches in both college and professional football ball deserves something far better than that man.

Team Asano have released a game every year since Octopath Traveler, so a 2026 release wouldn't be too much of a surprise in my opinion, and their games are typically associated with Nintendo. Obviously I could be wrong, but I think this is how it may go

Will it be ready for the Switch 2? I don't think so, but I have a guess it'll be announced in April and have an early demo (similar to other games by Team Asano), and will be the studio's 2026 game.

The indie scene typically goes for traditional pixel art, and the other AAA JRPGs go for either a realistic look (Like a Dragon and Final Fantasy) or a very stylized look (Persona and Metaphor). I think the oncoming release of the Switch 2 is the perfect time to start moving into a different style.

A Bravely 3rd, BS2, or BD3 would be perfect for this. It art style and game structure are both still emblematic of what HD2D goes for (Classic 90s style JRPGs), but really hasn't been touched on a large scale in time between BD2 and now

However, I would rather those remakes to not immediately follow. The team that works on the HD 2D style is Team Asano, who also works on the Bravely Default series. It has almost been 4 years since BE2, and I think a break from the HD2D style is necessary to not overstimulate the market

We know that DQ I & II are next, but we do not know what is after. I believe the remake has sold well and certainly has been received well. If DQ I & II do well enough, do we get remakes for IV-VI in this style? I would absolutely love that.
