Been to the US numerous times over the years. No plans to visit until sanity returns, and I know a lot of other people with the same view.
The number of ads for US holidays (Disney, etc) seems to have increased lately..

Don’t tell my kids (who loved it) but I thought it was like a 2 hour EMO pop video. Beautiful to look at but curiously unsatisfying in plot. I liked the fireguard turning its head but it didn’t lead to anything.

This is exactly it. I work in support on a very elderly VMS machine that's part of a large, complex industrial monitoring system. The only people with an overview of the whole thing are retiring and "the law of unintended consequences" bites us in the arse all the time.
