I remember purchasing the 45 at Tower Records, in Fresno, CA, 1979. And then the album, Setting Sons.

Just a bit ago, I was listening to Gang of 4 "Songs of the Free" - hard funk punk, which I love. But I also enjoyed switching to Rauf Mahmud (due to your post), for a slightly more gentle funk.
Nice choices, always. Thanks!

Lucky to see The Jam in concert - Pasadena, CA, 1982. Amazing band and show. Weller is fine, but The Jam were MAGIC

You gave, and still give me, HOPE for what could be, Gov Walz!

Check out the 1951 version, with Harry James on trumpet, Frank Sinatra on vocals. Also "passion" (maybe without the "potion"!)

Saw them in concert, twice. To me, Give 'em Enough Rope, London Calling, and Sandinista are all peak Clash.
Certainly, some of my favorite sounds, ever.
