The GOP Medicaid cuts will leave 8.6 million more Americans uninsured by 2034. My @morningjoe-msnbc.bsky.social Chart

This is a small thing but a U.S. pension fund just became the first to stop buying Tesla stock www.businessinsider.com/pennsylvania...

How do you save the Library of Alexandria Work. Also Spreasheets and GitHub pull requests

How many employees is Microsoft going to fire in its attempts to make back its investments in AI? The "low performer" language is so unnecessary.

Howard University students launched a solidarity encampment, DC and campus police threaten arrests. It's a direct attack on peaceful protest and student power. Howard students demand justice— they’re calling on community to mobilize and defend the encampment. Show up. Speak out. Stand with them.

Beautiful, heartfelt essay

"Efficiency"

Didn't even realize I caught the Columbia sign too in this.

Nice one-two combo

Short and to the point

Trump's federal funding cuts are shutting down studies on Alzheimer’s care, uterine fibroids and pregnancy risks — all because they focus on gender.

This should be a much, much bigger story. And once again I tell you: Their singular mission is to decimate everyone but them. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/22/o...

TN bill would make it a crime to hide or harbor undocumented immigrants is making its way through the state legislature in Tennessee. This could endanger mixed-status families as well as churches/non-profits that traditionally help people no matter their status tennesseelookout.com/2025/03/20/t...

Imagine the burning of the Library of Alexandria x 10000000

The people Attorney General Bondi is calling “terrorists” have had no trial and no chance to defend themselves. We do not know who they are. Ignoring the Constitution does not make us safe. It puts us all in peril.

Has to be done: youtu.be/OCbuRA_D3KU?...

I wrote a paper as part of my MLIS studies about the intentional destruction of archives during war time. It was done to erase the history of local people from the records to better lay claim to territory. Happened during WWII, in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Crimea. This WaPo framing is so off the mark.

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025. This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

“The political press may not understand what's happening (or may be too afraid to say it out loud), but those of us who've spent decades studying how technology and power interact? We see it and we can't look away.”

This is so good. “Nature has its way of taking out the weak and the not so well and the injured. The eagle likely thought it would be able to take it out quite easily,” Sequeira said. “But, it wasn’t.” www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Gift article to this series of exit interviews with recently fired Inspectors General. I admit, much like many other people from the sounds of it, I didn't appreciate or fully understand their role in government. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

former colleagues from 18F have asked me to share this open letter widely - please pass on 🙏 🇺🇸 💻💪 18f.org

18F, the federal government’s technology shop, was just demolished by Musk’s team. It was a cost-recoverable org, charging agencies for their expertise, using a consulting model. Its cost to government was negligible, its benefits huge. My team there once saved DoD $500 million. A thread about 18F:

Sad to share the news that our colleagues at 18F were illegally fired overnight (emails coming in around 1am Sat.). About 90 people. 18Fers are technologists, like USDSers, and often would be co-deployed or work across different parts of the same agency.

Rubio terminated 5800 USAID contracts – more than 90% of its foreign aid programs – in defiance of the courts. Here’s a list of just some of the lifesaving awards that were terminated. Nearly all were Congressionally mandated. They’ve saved millions of lives. 🧵

🔥 @aoc.bsky.social : “The numbers don’t add up. $880 BILLION is a devastating cut to Medicaid, and an attack on Medicare. Anyone who votes for this budget is voting to cut Medicaid and gut health care for Medicare recipients in 🇺🇸.” Full: www.instagram.com/reel/DGg7cr0...

🚨🚨If you use kindle, Download your books before Amazon removes the ability next week. That is your money you spent and those are your books. 🚨🚨

He’s not making up: news.bloomberglaw.com/banking-law/... Is this really what y’all voted for? 🫤 💰

By rights, this would be another enormous DOJ scandal www.yahoo.com/news/senior-...

In the three weeks Elon Musk has been in charge of unilaterally slashing government spending, the U.S. government has paid one of his companies, SpaceX, more than $43 million.

How much Elon Musk makes from the government a day: $8 million. How much a senior on Social Security gets a day: $65 Guess which budget Musk and Trump want to cut?

Very soothing for some reason
