The study looked at men going thru "active surveillance" 4 their low-risk #prostatecancer. Cool potential here 4 reducing the pt burden since active surveillance involves going in 4 many biopsies, blood draws, MRIs. Today at #SABCS24, active monitoring 4 low-risk #DCIS came up. đź‘Ť#cansky #oncosky

Without discussing sudden death, pain control with morphine, needing more rest, looking back with gratitude or forward with adjusted hopes, we were able to discuss every aspect of her care with her.
Her metaphor.
And our astonishing privilege.

Spot on! We all need to be clued on & aware of the possibility of cancer, even in the younger population. Gone are the days when cancer was only considered a disease of the aged…increased research is throwing more light, better testing can pick up cancers early & result in better outcomes

Unfortunately hearing lots of “young” cancer patients being dismissed by their primary care physicians, when they do disclose symptoms. Lots of “but you are too young for cancer!” Lots of education of public and health care professionals alike about young onset cancers needed.

Very low and slow in the oven in a covered heavy or cast iron casserole dish.
150c in a fan oven until the meat is falling off the bone, about 4.5 hours will do to.
Baste it every 2 hours and test after 4 hours.

Important message, instead of “why me”, try to swap for “why not me”. Blame game is head melting and unproductive! 1 in 2 will develop a cancer at some stage in life.

Good question, will be following this story and hoping to hear more from the HSE about this soon.
