Grateful for the unnamed heroes across the centuries, who have maintained the specimens and associated data, and have worked to make them more widely available. #NaturalHistoryCollections

I think it's a combination of many factors...everyone everywhere being expected to publish more, too many journals stretching the limited reviewer pool, bias on many levels, etc... π₯²

This thread was prompted by an otherwise excellent article which treats the two as equivalent. Helicopter and parachute research need to be named, recognised and addressed separately. www.nature.com/articles/d41... 5/5

The sad truth: "We were unable to include freshwater #molluscs in our analysis because only half of the known species globally are currently assessed for the
IUCN Red List, with notable geographical biases..."

The Bangkok Art Biennale #BAB2024 was one reason I had gone to the museum, where a few artworks were on display. I also managed to visit another Biennale venue at the BACC, where among many other things, were more shells in artworks by Aki Inomata. #MolluscMonday

The One Trick That Angry Referees Don't Want You To Know: Write your reports about the paper, not the author: βthis paper argues Xβ or βthis paper hasnβt engaged with the literature around Xβ. Much harder to be (accidentally or otherwise) rude, dismissive, condescending, presumptuous, Ref 2-ish.

A preliminary checklist from an expedition to one section of #Kinabalu Park, home to the highest peak in π²πΎ. It includes some understudied invertebrate taxa, which I'm starting to establish research on with various collaborators.
