This is one of many reasons I left the US. They've made it effectively impossible to hide from an employer that you are trans, then made it effectively legal for an employer to discriminate against you for it.

I was complaining about this just yesterday.

This is absolutely terrible and you should be very proud of yourself πŸ’€

I showed this to my girlfriend and it made her cry and I feel awful. πŸ₯²

I am torn between sad that he won't be here to temper whatever may be coming, and happy for him that he won't have to see it. He wasn't perfect, but he was compassionate, and that truly is the most important thing.

We pulled out our retirements before leaving the country and it felt a little risky at the time but WOW we made the right choice.

This is how I found out the pope died.

When I was a teenager learning to think for myself and finally stopped reading Fox News, I turned to the BBC for a less biased source. So sad to see what it has become.

This is amazing!

The more I zoom in the less I see the bird. Evolution should be extra proud of this one πŸ˜‚

Do you think they complain about their husbands not helping around the house, or are they happy in the hell they've made for themselves?

Just apologized to my girlfriend for invalidating her womanhood by making her a sandwich earlier. She'd hurt her ankle and didn't want to get up, but I crossed a line.

So I guess their "feminism" has circled back around to women belonging in the kitchen??? WTF???

I have loved Peter Paul and Mary since I was a little kid, and I had no idea this song existed. Devastatingly relevant. Thank you so much for putting this on my radar.

The US has plenty of stores open even on major holidays, so we weren't thinking about that at all and went to the supermarket on Saturday. Its awesome that stores close and workers get a day off, BUT I'm never going anywhere between Good Friday and Easter ever again. CHAOS.

Distracted by what a nice wood table that is.

That's amazing and such a good way to do it when things feel overwhelming. Takes all the guesswork out.

I just got back from a walk to the lake and back and saw a rainbow too! Good day for it.

Fascism with all the trappings of fascism. They're not even pretending anymore.

The Puritans are still lording over our culture from the grave with their productivity is morality bullshit. I hate it so much.

Somehow, despite everything, I thought "surely not." Checked snopes. It's real. Fml

I REALLY like this. I'm such a sucker for atmospheric lighting and an empty built environment.

It was a swamp harrier, which I don't really need to say because it's the ONLY hawk here.

HRT made such a huge difference in my physical health as well as my mental health. I am physically ill without it, just like a cis person with a hormone deficiency. I will not go back.

To clarify, I am trans, and I'm fine with other people using the concept of and term gender if it's useful to them. It's just not useful to me and I wish it wasn't the *chosen one* of all our terminology.
comment in response to post
Yeah gender is a very nebulous concept that I personally don't find very useful. I wish we would bring back "transsexual," though I understand why it fell out of favor.

My dad is autistic. He's a good dad. He's been married for over 3 decades and has 2 children. He teaches highschool science and has inspired several students to become scientists. He's working on his master's degree. He plays in the praise band at church every Sunday. And he pays his damn taxes.

I am traveling in New Zealand right now because the US felt so unsafe for me as a trans person. This is incredibly heartwarming to see. Thank you πŸ’š

Goals. I tip my much less fashionable hat to you sir 🧒

I left the US a month ago (trans, not waiting for my Passport to be taken away). Amidst all the big loss is the comparatively small loss of not being able to take my girlfriend to her first Mountain Goats show any time soon. Loved you in New Mexico, hope to see you in New Zealand someday.

It's honestly really difficult. Writing it down makes it more real somehow, and I avoid it more than I should. But tonight I can't sleep, so here we are.

I've started keeping a journal I half-jokingly refer to as my "Diary of the Fall." If I have kids someday I want them to read it. I have never felt so acutely that I am witnessing the tides of history. They have cast me adrift, far from home. And I count myself one of the lucky ones.

As an American it's both amusing and sad watching the right in other countries kiss up to Trump thinking they're on the same team. The only person he cares about is himself. He will screw you over and it will be your own fault.

Thank you for many mornings started a little brighter.

I took a few more interesting shots on the Sony but it's entirely too early to be editing, so you get phone pictures.

I love those little vestiges of old jobs. I once worked in the kitchen of a retirement home, and now I can cube a cantaloupe or a honeydew in about 2 minutes or less. I was at that job for about 6 months, but I'll be able to cube a melon with the efficiency of a machine until I die.

I did wrestle with the urge to stay and fight, but my girlfriend asked what I would say if she was the one in danger. I didn't hesitate. "Fuck America, let's get you out of here."
