Of course I oppose the trans care ban, just as I oppose the entire bill. I assume this question was shouted as I was walking between meetings. I had not seen the language but let me be clear: I support stripping out as much from the bill as Democrats can, including this ban.

“So few Dems” time.com/7294985/iran...

It's complete insanity and I will never forgive any Dem politician who is in favor of this shit

my trans child and I will dance on these pigs' grave together

If you've read that Atlantic story by Annie Lowrey about why ranked choice voting sucks, I'm telling you she's wrong. And I know this because I did something in 2017 Annie did not for this story - I talked to a mathemtician.

from decades of experience I can tell you unequivocally that anytime a Republican or Libertarian says they are "removing regulatory uncertainty that hinders innovation" you're about to get fucked

You know, I actually know exactly what it’s like to make the decision to end the life of someone with irreversible brain damage and that piece by Elizabeth Bruenig in The Atlantic is one of the most purely heartless things I think I’ve ever read.

ok, when everybody suddenly stans a politician and then he gets milkshake ducked, this is a very common thing on the ol' socials, but access is important to me and this guy seems like a solid dude who cares

I used to work with this fucking prick Go away, Kevin

a sub-narrative is the way corporate power and the wealthy fueled this fire knowing it would erode consensus and stall meaningful reform on other fronts even as it burns us alive they're giddy about the mindless deregulation and tax cuts

Trump take homes

The amazing @wiswell.bsky.social has another fantastic novel out today in WEARING THE LION! I am thrilled to share a book birthday with him! We will be appearing together at Pandemonium Books and Games in Cambridge MA on July 20! pandemoniumbooks.com/products/aut...

This is one of the main reasons they wanted Trump to win in 2024. The bosses were desperate to get workers back into a situation where they are desperate and easy to exploit, and away from the tight Biden labor market, where low wage workers were getting double digit % raises. Promises kept!

Anjin did such a good job on our main character :)

Need Warren to endorse Zohran simply so she can own Bloomberg some more.

NYT last year: We're no longer going to endorse in local races. www.nytimes.com/2024/08/12/b... NYT as soon as a candidate they don't like has a shot at winning:

This isn't all of the story, but a surprisingly big part of the "fear" of Mamdani isn't actually that he'll institute full communism, it's that people's friends-and-influence groups will be demoted from their positions of authority

I don't think I've ever felt more like burning it all down than I have while witnessing the elite project to turn Zohran Mamdani and Brad Lander into scary, incompetent monsters while turning an actual incompetent monster, Andrew Cuomo, into a merely complicated fellow who just made an oopsie.

The Red Hook Star-Revue knows our neighborhoods inside and out. It's an honor to have the endorsement of such a vital local paper!

If you have enough money and promise to protect the comfortable, you typically have all the "experience" you need.

Fascist withholds money from cities where freedom of speech was permitted.

Teaching is its own skill, separate from content knowledge. In fact, the more you know about a topic, the less well you’re likely to convey it to newbies unless you also learn and use basic pedagogical principles (activating prior knowledge, chunking, scaffolding, etc.).

WoT’s actors endeared themselves to the fanbase, and that can’t be understated. Like they actually gave a shit about the source material and become knowledgeable about it despite its massive 15 book length Meaning that statements like this feel genuine collider.com/wheel-of-tim...

every state needs to enact a version of this, yes even red ones. People live there too

Whoa. So this guy had a shootout with cops BEFORE he went into the second residence and he still managed to kill them AND escape. Even though they talked about cops "intuition" being the reason they went to the second victims home. Hm.

for all of the praise of law enforcement we've seen since Saturday, it's now clear cops had at least two opportunities to prevent Vance Boelter from murdering Melissa Hortman and her husband but failed to do so.

All snark aside about the terrible Atlantic piece in favor of the fascist parade or the general downplaying of #NoKings, if you're going to take action, it's helpful to know that MSM orgs rarely support acts of protest. As a rule, they dismiss protestors or paint them as violent thugs. Be prepared.

I did an event in DC & there was a party for donors etc after. Was talking to 2 ppl & I said "Things are so bad." They said "No this is how it is. Things swing one way, then another. It's normal." That's when I realized why Dems are toothless. They have no idea what this is. Frogs boiling in water.

Wild that the Times effectively endorses Andrew Cuomo for mayor while implying that Bill de Blasio's mayorship was a disaster and thus a huge problem for Mamdani, when as I recall the main problem with de Blasio's mayorship was... Andrew Cuomo

Oh so they're terrified of Mamdani

"deeply religious" is usually a euphemism for the kinds of views that, if he wasn't a white Christian, would lead to politicians calling for wiping out an entire other country

pedocon theory is not a theory

brah i'm not ready for fash pop

There a reason the protests are being covered differently from the Tea Party The Tea Party was a front for the wealth class that owns the media and were used to demonize necessary reform These protests were democratic and populist, which the wealth class and its media opposes Hope that helps

Shit is still terrifying right now but, personally, spending yesterday doing a lovely, heartwarming signing event at a well-attended and joyful Pride Fest and then learning that 5 million people showed up for protests while Trump's birthday parade was an embarrassment was PRETTY GOOD for my brain

Datapoint: Chuck Schumer not posting once about yesterday’s protests before they happened, then spending the evening posting over and over about how important they were and how proud he was to attend.

Don't print lies in the newspaper

One weird indignity of being a feminist in America is not just that a belief in women’s inferiority is part of the political mainstream, but that the violence of those who hold that belief is considered unremarkable.

I don't think we will be able to successfully work the refs - the refs have been bought off already - but calling attention to this is valuable in convincing people on our side to look around and reevaluate who in the corporate media they can trust

Andrew Cuomo is a serial sexual abuser of women. Do we really want another one of those in the White House?

I know this is controversial but I don't think we need to pay anybody to brutalize us. We could probably cut 100% of the budget for that.

The owner of Twitter sends out 100 right wing propaganda tweets every single day and the algorithm is set up so that every single person on Twitter has to see every single one of these tweets. Now here’s another piece about Blue Sky’s ideological diversity problem.

Underneath all of those articles is a deep fury that Bluesky punishes instead of rewarding lazy and/or hostile engagement farming. Try to build a following here with trolling and slurs and you'll find yourself in a ghost town. To them that is simply intolerable.

All we need is for those numbers to sustain across a diversity of tactics for an extended amount of time-- strikes! boycotts! slowdowns! leaks! refusals! art shenanigans! more! -- and we will have this in the bag, folks. We. Can. Do. This.

Compare this poll from just before the weekend to the incredible, intense, energetic outpour of support, in yesterday's protests, for an alternative to the Republicans. "Sit with that."
