I don't think you can make your tent bigger if the groups you're trying to appeal to(nativists/transphobes) turns off the activist base of your party. You just tried a soft version of this last year and lost for a 2nd time to a racist gameshow host with like 500 felonies. What the fuck are you doing

I dunno man, if the WH can point to people from Latin America and say "gang member," and point to people from the Arab world and say "terrorist" or "antisemite," and those designations lead directly to detention or worse, I think we have to acknowledge we're in a pretty bad place.

Co-signed. It shouldn’t have to be said but unfortunately we live in Minneapolis

there’s a stark contrast where typical liberals in the democratic party would deride you when you told them democrats were feckless losers that always capitulate, all these people seem to also be mad at the democratic party now. this is a great change. the party establishment needs to go

“Do you want a mayor who is not meeting the moment?” - a Senator who is not meeting the moment

wow as predicted, the congressional dems are largely gormless quislings ceding with ease to the whims of fascists with their bold strategy of "do nothing" mixed with "shaking my head as i'm voting yes anyways."

It’s been 72 hours since federal agents abducted a legal permanent resident from our city and Andrew Cuomo still hasn’t said a word.

Ping-pong paddle signage won’t beat back the techno-fascist revolution. To fight Musk’s vision, we need something deeper—solidarity, mutual aid, and a refusal to abandon each other. My latest:

Minneapolis doesn’t have a strong Mayor, it has strong donors. Residents thought they voted for a single point of accountability, what they got was a single point of failure. Wealthy donors have taken over national politics, let's not let them take over locally. www.startribune.com/minneapolis-...

that would just be bill clinton.

Dear Media: Halting all aid to Gaza is not "pressuring Hamas." Collective punishment is a war crime. Starvation as a weapon of war is a war crime. Withholding medical care is a war crime. None of this is remotely controversial actually. Israel is doing war crimes, not "pressuring Hamas."

No. Go away.

old Soviet joke for our times: Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to. Guy says: “looking for an obituary.” Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.” Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”

I agree. This essay is powerful, from a friend and treasured comrade.

Respectability politics will get you nowhere. Always has been, always will be

Very much like the Iraq War, somehow "I thought Elon Musk was a genius until a couple years ago" is now considered the more respectable and serious opinion than "I knew he was a fraud for a decade and was never fooled by him."

Wonder when most people figure out that Corporate media has honed their authoritarian obscurity of language that they are using to shield the fascists in power by lying about police murders of minorities for the last 45 years.
