Does USA now become the 11th province?

With all USAID funds frozen now, we are worried about our partners who are now scrambling to keep their doors open, pay for supplies and keep their staff – instead of providing life-saving programs to the 3.8 billion people living under the poverty line. www.linkedin.com/feed/update/...

Oxfam is deeply saddened by the death of 2 colleagues in #SouthSudan, killed in an armed robbery in Moto, Jonglei State. We offer our deepest condolences to the familles of Gatdet Nhial Jock and Manyal Gatjek Kueth and to their colleagues at Oxfam in South Sudan and members of the local community. ⬇

I want to thank Sooke council for passing a staff recommendation to allow Small Scale multi housing. This will open up new housing opportunities for young families and create opportunities for others to downsize and stay in the community they love.🙏🏾 sooke.civicweb.net/filepro/docu...

NEW - John Rustad has kicked off first QP as official opposition leader with question about diversion and ‘safe supply’. Rustad says government has been misleading government on diversion. #bcpoli

I first ran for city council because things needed to be done differently at City Hall. Regardless of the issue, I wanted to make sure that voices from all corners of our city are lifted up and included — not silenced and marginalized.🧵

NEW - Due to financial constraints and threats of tariffs all hiring in the B.C. Public Service is currently paused, including openings in the process of hiring. All future and current hiring requires approval from the head of the public service, Shannon Salter. #bcpoli

NEW - Premier David Eby has just wrapped up meeting with senior President Donald Trump staff members Sergio Gor and James Blair in the White House. #bcpoli

The fact that most Americans probably don’t care that USAID is being destroyed doesn’t make it right. It shows that we have a lot of work to do to become the kind of country that cares about that.

This morning, I met with premiers & the prime minister and once again, I raised the need to break down trade barriers within Canada.  The challenge posed by the tariff threat is also an opportunity to focus on growing our economy here at home.

Today, I spoke at the Truck Loggers Association Convention in Vancouver. Through it all, the questions and remarks, we left with one clear sentiment: For the future of our industry, the only way forward is together. And there’s no time to waste. So let’s get down to work.

Is Justin Trudeau about to resign??? I was in the parliamentary press gallery for more than seven years, so let me try to explain this chaos. Hopefully this isn't outdated in about ten minutes. Sounds to me like a great time for you all to subscribe to my substack!!! rachelgilmore.substack.com

I don't understand why people are so surprised Jagmeet Singh won't send Canadians to the polls right now. Like, obviously the Conservatives are much more ideologically distant from the NDP than the Liberals, and the Conservatives would likely win an election right now. Why would he want that?

The reckoning for the gambling epidemic is going to be brutal.

Woah!

You came, you led, you changed the world for everyone who knew you and so many more who never got the chance. Thank you, John from Langford.

Rest in Peace John from Langford 🖖

Dan was a really inspiring and lovely person. This is a big loss in so many ways.

British Columbia has lost an incredible advocate and a fighter for justice in the passing of Dan Coulter. We will keep Dan and his family in our hearts and remember him in the work that we do.

Big news for renewable power in BC 🚨 Wind power projects will be exempted from environmental assessment, says Energy Minister Adrian Dix "BC is calling for renewable energy ... at a moment when other provinces are are doing exactly the opposite," he says #bcpoli

As per @richardzussman.bsky.social "NEW - The BC Government is exempting wind energy projects from the environmental assessment process. #bcpoli"

I am deeply saddened by the news that Grace has been diagnosed with cancer. She is an inspiration to me and to people right across BC. I know that her family, Rob, Eve and Asher will be wrapping her with love during this time. We are all sending her strength and love during this time.

Fllks are joining daily - anyone I've missed? #bcpoli bsky.app/profile/did:...

35 years ago I was a McGill student in Montreal. I remember endless sirens, the moment I understood that a gunman had separating male and female engineering students, let the men leave and shot the women. I will never forget these 14 women murdered simply for being women who wanted to be engineers.

Appreciated the chance to meet virtually with Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, Johnathan Wilkinson. My top priority for discussion: softwood lumber. BC needs strong federal leadership, and I look forward to working with the Minister to deliver for our forestry sector.

Sending my best to Dan. A tough week: cheknews.ca/bc-ndp-provi...

This is heartbreaking news. Wishing @gracealore.bsky.social a super speedy recovery.

What's that adage about history repeating itself? My friend Andrew Rudyk draws an interesting comparison between #Trump's proposed tariffs and Herbert Hoover's protectionist measures. Spoiler alert: 1929 was not a good time for U.S. economy. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

I'm so tired of news being behind a $1 paywall while half a dozen men sit on all the money

Following Nova Scotia election, provincially there are 293 people elected under Conservative banner across Canada, 184 New Democrats, 87 Liberals, 9 Greens and 153 others. Many of those others are conservative. The Liberal brand down every where west of New Brunswick. #bcpoli

Seeing a lot of distressing posts about people rushing around so very busy. Pls remember it is NO-vember. Say no to more stuff

My message to workers and business owners across BC: We stand with you. I will be working closely with business and labour communities in the days ahead. The issues at the border can be addressed without these tariffs and the damage they will cause.

Addiction, homelessness, and the toxic drug supply exists in every community even in small towns with a population of 700 residents. Looking forward to sharing my story of overcoming addiction to the amazing town of Norman Wells. #Wedorecover #Inspireothers

Hi #VictoriaBC and #BCPoli! Nice to be here! xo
