I think it depends on the context of why they are asking. If it’s a general they want to know who you are as a writer then yes maybe (a) but if they are asking from the pov of looking for a new slate then pick the one which most aligns to their tastes!

Dickens was great at this! Although some of his supporting characters can be quite cartoony but he always defines them by a specific physical characteristic or clearly defined speech habit.

I guess get the story structure and outline as fleshed out as poss before you start! I did write a half play in a very short time maybe 2/3 days but it was based on existing characters
