Morning campers. Miss Pip says it is always worth trying your luck for a second breakfast. Trigger warning - contains piteous mews. 🩷🐾🩷

Is it too late to give Sacha Baron Cohen an Oscar for this? Not a damn lie told. 🇺🇸

me: don't worry about it, the last time this course of events played out in almost the exact same way nothing bad happened guy who has never heard of ISIS: 👍

EXCLUSIVE — The Onion has a full-page ad in today’s NYT featuring part of an editorial calling out congressional fecklessness towards Trump. They also sent a copy of their latest issue to every lawmaker. My report, with an excerpt from the full editorial: www.thehandbasket.co/p/exclusive-...

Netanyahu has spent the better part of two decades trying to strong arm the United States into an unprovoked war against Iran and finally found a president stupid enough to do it for him. Unbelievable.

Just to be crystal clear: bombing Iran is completely illegal.

World War 3 kinda sucks, but you know, it was either this or pronouns

This heat wave is absolutely bone crushing. I'm so glad I installed central air two years ago. But if you're without AC, or you're dealing with a heat wave for the first time because it's reaching areas that don't historically get this hot, here are a few tips from my years of poverty in a desert:

We have a madman in the White House who is actively trying to trigger total war. If Jeffries, Schumer, or any other Democratic leaders try to justify this, shrug indifferently, or write a strongly-worded letter and call it a day, they need to step down or be aggressively primaried.

Just a reminder that you can intensely dislike the Iranian regime and still think all this is a fucking gross combination of illegal and insane.

I am once again reminding everyone that the President does not get to declare war, that is solely the responsibility of Congress.

Same

If only we had warned folks before the election that the real plan wasn’t border security…it was mass deportation in the interior, federalizing the National Guard, ripping people out of homes, families, jobs, and schools. Oh wait…we did. This segment with the author of 2025 aired one year ago.

If you think it can’t happen here, remember that it already did. In 1942 soldiers came with rifles to our home and ordered us out. They put us in internment camps. Most of us were citizens.

People experiencing miscarriages in states with abortion bans told us they wished they had known what to expect and how to advocate for themselves. We created this guide for anyone who finds themselves in the same position. (Published Dec. 2024)

Y’all if you write about how you use AI to do the work of writing I am just going to block you and never read your books or think about you again.

The story of LGBT rights is a story of advances followed by setbacks followed by media with no skin in the game saying, "It's because you were too loud/asked for too much/moved too fast/got too big for your britches/didn't make your case." That never changes--but happily it's never the last word.

Pretty adorable scene at the local pond last night as these Red Necked Grebes were feeding (and transporting!) their little ones. #wildlife #birds

For real tho…

Carney says "consultation, cooperation, engagement and participation" is at the heart of Bill C-5 but what about free, prior and informed consent? We don't need nice words, we need full-implementation of UNDRIP.

To be really clear: The reason members of Congress can't just walk right in is because of the guns. Armed DHS personnel won't allow entry. In other words, DHS is using armed force to *break* laws. Democrats need to wrap their minds around that. Accept that the frog is boiled.

"Given their record up until now, to believe that the tech companies are ever going to choose the public interest over their own wealth, power, and fantastical dreams of a post-human future seems rather naïve." — @paulwaldman.bsky.social

I suspect that fact that the vast majority of LLM users don’t seem to have received this (really very simple!) message is because the AI companies have a vested interest in us not understanding it. “ChatGPT is smart, it just makes mistakes sometimes” is much more marketable than the truth.

Incredibly important read. This is exactly what LAPD did to me and two other legal observers standing on a quiet street corner this past weekend—except with rubber bullets, not pepperballs, and aimed at our heads, not our feet. …oh, and the officer waved tauntingly right before shooting at us.

Breaking: The Trevor Project received a stop-work order last night on its contract with the national 988 suicide prevention hotline. The Trump administration is eliminating the option for LGBTQ callers to the hotline to press 3 and connect with someone who specializes in LGBTQ mental health.

Don’t send me an unsolicited picture of your peewee cocktapus unless you want me to… A: find your mom’s Facebook B: find a picture she uploaded of you reminiscing about what a nice young man you were C: badly photoshop that into a locket D: convince you I’m your daughter. Happy Father’s Day Daddy.

Mike Lee Stresses He Would Have Posted Same Thing If Own Family Savagely Murdered

So we've reached the "arresting Jewish electeds who oppose sending people to gulags" part of fighting antisemitism, I see

ICE agents are out here manhandling elected officials—yet again. They arrested NYC Comptroller Brad Lander for asking if they had a warrant—which is his constitutional right. (1/2)

Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife. While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE. This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

But...ChatGPT is awful. This whole story is depressing.

Oh man, what a self-own. A govt lawyer brought up DEI in passing, Judge Young was Not Happy: "If putting these words together, DEI, is somehow offensive... does that mean our policy is homogeneity, inequity, and exclusion? Are you going to stand there and tell me that's now the policy of the NIH?"

In 2016 MN Police killed a Black man named Philando Castile despite him disclosing he had a legal firearm. Yesterday MN Police released a white woman named Jenny Boelter despite her car full of cash, firearms, & passports hours after her husband mass murdered people & was on the run from police.

the cucking will continue until democracy improves
