One more suggestion (if you're ever planning on touching this again), use history.replaceState({}, "", "?params") to update the url after every change instead of a copy url button. Then you also don't need the restart button, because browser reload would have the same effect.

I agree with you, but probably the reason is that it makes the helpers more official. You would then need to think of a proper place in the API, write documentation, maybe tests, and maintain them for at least a while.
