genuine question: if a close friend attended your wedding (drove a long way to get there too) but couldn't attend the reception because they had an exam that night that they had to take, is it reasonable to be angry or upset with them? am I going insane for feeling like idk what I did wrong?

is this the face of a tiny terrorist??

hello friends, I hope you are doing well ♥️

it's important this go as viral as the original story for morale purposes if nothing else. despite the image they project these people are NOT unaccountable. consequences CAN be forced. focused anger and outrage MATTERS.

i'm watching a group of conservative law professors insist that there is a grand debate over birthright citizenship that somehow escaped generations of scholarship and only popped into existence after a right-wing president announced an effort to nullify the 14th amendment.

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind. An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one." The other said, "Take him anyway." So they did.

This isn't anti-DEI - it's retelling history as a story with only white men in it. The tale of the Navajo Code Talkers is essential to understanding the Allies' victory in WWII. Removing it because the people involved were non-white is segregationism.

Academia friends: I already thanked my professors for writing my letters of recommendation when it happened, but do I send them another email to let them know if I got in or not? Or would that be annoying? Idk

I got into my dream grad school today (YAY) but I'm not sure if I can afford it, so I'm having a lot of complicated feelings today!!!!!

Good morning

I got engaged this weekend (WOO!) and although it was awesome, it did sting that my mother in law never even bothered to call us. I had people I haven't spoken to in years calling me and she couldn't even be bothered. Oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

BREAKING On Monday, Popular Information broke the news that the NIH had frozen virtually all grant funding in violation of 2 federal court orders On Wednesday, NIH leadership distributed a memo, acknowledging that its funding freeze was illegal and directing staff to resume issuing grants.

The biggest story in the country right now is how many lawsuits DOJ is losing trying to defend Musk and Trump. I've never seen so many courts, so clearly outraged at the federal government. The latest one, blocks cuts at HHS and FDA. Visit www.democracydocket.com to stay informed.

Can faculty strike or something when your admin starts complying with fascism or are we all just going to let this happen like it’s fine

is the goal merit or is the goal segregation?

There has been a shift in the Trump team's language in their anti-DEI attacks. All of a sudden they started calling it "DEIA", with the A being "accessibility". If you don't think it's a coordinated effort to remove disabled people from every facet of life, well I have news for you.

Since JD Vance just converted to Catholicism 5 minutes ago, he might not know this: the Pope authoring a letter where he goes out of his way to correct you, specifically, is considered "bad" in the Catholic tradition
