LA “The Town of our Lady, the Queen of Angels” was founded by 44 “foreign born” settlers of New Spain five years after our Revolution. It was part of the Empire of Mexico after their Revolution.
We didn’t steal it until Polk’s Mexican War, right after Sutter’s gold discovery. There’s a theme here.

Totally agree. His early books area little self referential, but not painful like Faulkner. More of a subtext to the American Dream for those without expectations of privilege.
I love the honesty of acceptance of flawed humans without the self pity which defines our society.

“All the Sinners Bleed” S.A. Cosby. Articulate young Black Virginian, not exactly mystery but very entertaining. A little rough around the edges, authentic.
Fantastic dialogue and authentic dialects, channels my memories of growing up in the Jim Crow south.

Won’t make a huge difference. Sales last year were only 16% of “Gigafactory“ startup capacity and dropping like a stone. That’s TRUE waste and inefficiency.
Turns out building things that people will buy is lots harder than dreaming up slogans. Not sure we’re all in on the Bladerunner lifestyle.

At the very least draw attention to the failure. Poor judgment and incompetence led to costly illegal action resulting in further fraudulent waste of public funds to score political points.
Everything is a campaign to them as they have no clue how to govern. It’s all a wet adolescent fever dream.

Fame and arrogance confronts the reality that trust is an earned commodity. He squandered his position as a serious public servant by wallowing in public scorn and trivial criticism.

Keep asking. We know they’ll never give a straight answer but acknowledging their perfidy puts a marker in the public record.
There is some value in exposing fools to public ridicule.

Society is under no obligation to reimburse or otherwise compensate those who seek to undermine or destroy our systems of governance.
That includes the orange baboon, his sycophants, Ashli Babbitt, Elon Musk, and the entire MAGA/Anon idiocracy. Fuck that

One of the lesser lingering sins of chattel slavery is our pecuniary system of wage slavery. Paying the least possible wage assures the caste system our forefathers rebelled against.

The far right deficit hawks have been playing Russian Roulette with our tax code for decades. Except for Hollywood and the Marlboro Man, the Wild West ended long before the Dust Bowl era.
Taxes are the price of a civil society and should be shared. They aren’t a penalty nor an encumbrance.
