I mean, OBVIOUSLY fuck em, bunch of cowards clinging to ideas of "decorum" that have no place when fascism is rising. But I see nobody in the comments saying it, so I will: Censure doesn't actually DO anything. It's a way for congress to say, "We had a vote and we REALLY don't like what you did!"

Shareholders tend to prefer making money over absolutely anything else; services that 'go public' tend to see a drastic drop in user experience as everything is aggressively monetized in an attempt to turn a profit, which is distributed to shareholders as dividends.

An "initial public offering-" Discord is currently "privately owned," meaning only a few people have a say in what it does. An IPO would see them distributing shares in Discord as a company, to be bought and sold on the stock market. This will make Discord beholden, by law, to shareholders.

Anyway. Just. Writing it out here so I can stop bugging my husband about it. Stay safe out there, help the people you can. Maybe donate to something that matters to you. Here's a few of mine: www.pcrf.net donate.wikimedia.org/w/index.php

I wish people would do a general strike. But the systems of solidarity and labor power that would make such a thing practical are largely illegal in this country. Making it illegal has been declared unconstitutional no less than three times by past SCOTUS decisions, but it just. Doesn't matter.

There's a need to get organized that any leftist worth their bread will preach about (like meeee), but precious little recognition that organizers get shot and arrested on the regular. Anarchists are terrorists as a matter of public policy. And we all know what the gov does to terrorists.

The popular image of the revolutionary is a squatter hiding in a basement- and for good reason. Because that's what the government *does* to would-be revolutionaries. For people who want to fight, the fear- very real, very present- is that the systems of coercion will be turned against them.

And I see people saying, "Why aren't we fighting back? Why aren't we shooting these motherfuckers??" Because most people don't want to kill. Most people are pretty sure fighting back will ruin their lives, & they aren't wrong.

They count on nobody fighting back, because mostly, people *don't.* They are trained not to, from a young age. In my public school life, if a teacher noticed that I was being bullied, I'd get punished too. People are largely -kind,- and that allows evil to flourish. How wretched. How awful.

I'm an out and proud trans-woman, in the deep south. Obviously, I've had bad experiences. But people largely don't look at me twice. Most don't treat me bad. Lots of people greet me with 'ma'am' and a warm smile.
But bullies count on that kindness. That aversion to confrontation.

... And you hear from "left-wing" politicians that we can't fight, and there's nothing to be done... It seems like there's nothing to engage in at all. And don't you have work in the morning? The saddest thing about people, in America and beyond, is that they really are largely. Kind.

If you hear from "right-wing" news that everything's going great, that Trump is fixing the government. If you hear from "left-wing" news that things are a little scary, but people calling it fascist are overreacting. If you hear from right-wing politicians that Trump is "our" guy...

So. If most all your media diet is billionaire-owned media- that's most media that exists- you aren't getting counter-narrative there. If you exclusively get your social interaction through billionaire-owned social media, you aren't getting counter-narrative *there.*

And in our society, billionaires are largely supportive of this fascism. Why wouldn't they be? These violent, coercive systems, built on slavery and genocide, why, they're the things that made YOU money. So much money. So much *toxic* money, which hardens your heart and blackens your soul.

They drift, dreamlike, into the open arms of media companies, owned by billionaires, who are themselves poisoned by wealth. Because, didn't you know? Wealth is poisonous. If you are in a position of wealth while others are deprived, it actually dampens your empathy. Your mirror neurons fire *less.*

And if *I* am in an information bubble, then what about the people who don't engage at all? Who just shrug their shoulders and say, "it won't affect me. Still gotta pay my taxes, still gotta watch out for Johnny lawman and his shitty friends."

It doesn't matter that it was propaganda; that the "opportunities" were largely restricted to *some* white people, decades ago. It doesn't matter because people don't engage with reality. They can't. I know I don't. I try to learn as much as i can, across news and articles. But it's not enough.

They feel the opportunities of the twentieth century slipping away, they SEE that "house and yard" money has become "condo" money has become "rented apartment" money has become "living with roommates" money. They see that the leadership is, AT BEST, disinterested and has been for decades.

Another sentiment I've been seeing is, "people in the USA voted in fascism because they were angry and bored." Are you *insane?* The USA is just doing *soooo* good right now, and they blew it all up for no reason?? People are busy, and tired, and overworked, and undereducated.

But it doesn't *matter.* For most people, that's just the world they live in. Johnny lawman might shoot you? Well, better not attract the attention of Johnny lawman. Whether the winner of an election in the US is right wing or "left," (center-right), groceries get more expensive, war presses on...

"But Sky, people are strongly affected by politics! Just about every aspect of life is influenced by public policy, by decisions about what is funded and what is restricted, by how the leadership enforces the laws as written, by how enforcers choose to enforce some laws over others..." And, true!

Really, this applies to non-rich right wingers in general, now that I think about it. All I can do is hope that the incompetence of the shitheels in power is enough that they really do just eliminate all the soft power and gentle controls on the population the USGov is
