I appreciate the wordplay with the article title. :)

How franchise-newbie-friendly is it? I saw the first Dune movie a few years ago, was often confused, barely remember much of it. Just heard a pitch from a friend and I felt like

It's the French background music that really makes it.

What terrible accord did you strike with a dark entity to be blessed with this in such regularity? What are the consequences of this deal?

Ending on Black Ops 7 was a choice, and the choice was "we don't have shit else to really show and we'd rather not go to the expense of doing a separate reveal later on down the road." I feel like we're just weeks or even days away from another round of Xbox layoffs and it'll be really sad.

Those are all from the FTC leak btw, excluding Dishonored 3 which I think died with Arkane Austin. Platinum might have been the next project from Tango, just speculation on my part.

In retrospect, I think we're both wrong: Phil's finally fulfilling the prophecy and concluding the Blinx The Time Sweeper trilogy.

Gerstmann ran down the list with Spencer at an E3 once, got shot down on Brute Force 2. But maybe now's the time.

There it is, what a dumb thing to do. Kneecapped his own game in the eyes of tons of potential customers and tries to explain it away with two sentences saying that it's a commentary on the state of FPS games. If 1047 knows what's good for it, they'll never let this guy do marketing again.

Not to mention real-time cocktail ice melting.

Also, come on, guys: it's time to start marketing MGS Master Collection Volume 2. Next week is the anniversary of MGS4's release and that's the perfect time to do it.

I really don't want to sound like I'm hating on Bungie here but there are some things about the game that I just can't reconcile in my head. I honestly want the best for them and I hope Marathon can find a path to success. But with the way Sony's been going, I can't feel anything but concern.
comment in response to post
At this point, the deck is stacked against Marathon between the public sentiment about the stolen art, stories of mismanagement, and Sony's pretty clear misuse of Bungie. These, not to mention that its an extraction shooter, an aging genre that Marathon can't conquer.

The realistic answer would be the pandemic and new gambling laws killing their pachinko revenue stream. But yeah, I like to imagine a Like A Dragon-like board member getting what's coming to him from an Ichiban-like who just wants to play a new Castlevania.

Perfectly reasonable. I hope that you're able to get to a place where such things are possible for you, I completely understand burn out. If it happens to be your taste, I would hope one day that you'd talk about Clair Obscur. I'm riding a high on it and the themes seem to be right up your alley.

My apologies if I'm touching at a sore spot here but do you think you would ever be interested in trying again to do the essays? Your 2024 goty video was quite entertaining. I've had the gumption every couple of years to do some myself but I always chicken out from a lack of confidence.

I think it should also be considered that value is subjective: a game can budget $1B to make and $80 to sell but that does not mean that I will value it at that price. Case in point: I did not value Star Wars Outlaws' base game and expansions at $100 but I was willing to buy it at $30 which I did.

I also don't have to pay that price if I choose not to. I can wait for sales, borrow, or buy used without having to pay full MSRP. If publishers are not willing to sell their products at what I consider to be a reasonable price, then they don't get my money.
