Musk was angry at OpenAI, so he said AI would destroy humanity. Then he founded xAI and sued OpenAI—and said AI might not be so bad. Now he wants his AI to take over DC, so he’s killing all AI safety. The man is knowingly betraying his _species_. He’ll certainly have no problem betraying America.

👏 Go get 'em, Madam President.

I like the term "selective suppression." Less perjorative than someone accusing me of "selective attention." Anyway, here's some research on how the brain navigates input overload. (Because of the state of the world, my bio here does not mention a lifelong interest in #brains. It's still here.)

Amen to that.

Yup.

I hope the rest of the world wakes up to this quickly. Trump will side with Putin against our allies and the free world. The US is going to the dark side and can no longer be trusted to defend democracies or keep our commitments. This is sad and shameful, but obvious and inevitable.

Surprise, surprise.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Stagecoach Mary. If you haven't met her yet, hop on this thread.

Icarus here decided to fly closer to the sun. 1. It's extortion, not negotiation. 2. Why are we "negotiating" with a sovereign nation we had been helping to protect from an aggressor? 3. In 1994, an actual negotiation had Ukraine returning nuclear weapons in return for our protection.

Never thought I'd be rooting for AI, but here we are.

Yeah. To put it into perspective, if Trump is permitted to rearrange the post office, he is also permitted to rearrange the lower federal courts however he likes. Both are spelled out as "The Congress shall have Power" in Art I, Sec 8. And there's more too, like armies and the militia, second pic.

I went searching specifically for ice pancakes because I wanted a certain vibe to chill the noise. There were way too many hotcakes offered in response, but these images from @laurelfynes.bsky.social are just the ticket. #GreatLakes #FreshWater #IcePancakes

Bonus points if you can correctly place a star on the Paul Manafort election.

There's a tidal wave of bad and very bad things going on right now, but I have to admit reading this made me pause and think "sh*t." ShIt. We are here.
