Personally, my gut feeling is that you should watch it in release order first, because there are mysteries and surprises that could maybe be spoiled if you do it this way. But I've never watched them this way, so I can't say 100%.

Lol Enduro! I remember the way my hand hurt from jamming on that joystick for so long. One of the perks of having much older brothers, they got the cool toys i would have been too young to get myself.

I remember something similar when we'd take our family trip to Florida from Pennsylvania. The first ~6 hours would have cold and snow, and everything would gradually get greener and warmer, until we'd arrive at a whole different world, with an actual sun.
