It's ridiculously expensive but we had one of the best meals of our life at Quintonil. Also - booked a taco street food tour that was amazing. quintonil.com

Why is this phrased as a question? It should be a statement - I should order Girl Scout cookies.

So much this. I don't understand this need at all.

Goddamit. Now I have to go figure out why Substack is the character of the day don't I.

I use mine a lot (a Moleskine) but mostly for notes in meetings. Apparently having notes in a calendar helps anchor my thoughts - what was that thing I forgot I needed to do? I think it talked about it like three weeks ago? Frantically flips through pages to find. 🤷‍♀️

As a former vegetarian, can confirm. I eat meat now, but that hasn't changed my enjoyment of Thanksgiving at all.

Congrats Miranda! This is such great news.

Early in my career,at a previous institution, a fellow academic would not give an exam accommodation to a student whose wife was miscarrying. Decades later, I still feel a vast amount of rage towards said colleague. ENORMOUS amounts of rage.

Yes. I'm also a big fan of experiences. My mom gives us $ every year & we commit it to a shared family experience on vacation. We've done a street food tour in India, a Michelin starred sushi lunch in Tokyo, and more. Those memories will stay with us in a way stuff won't.

This is the correct answer.

I probably was always going to try administration but TBH the idea of having to teach and explain all this accelerated that timeline. Good luck.

I'm convinced there's a business opportunity here. Someone could take all my money if they promised to make replicas of things I love.

Also - every grocery store has SOME cereal that's on some huge discount at any given time. You buy Cheerios when they're on sale, and then you buy whatever is on sale the next time you need cereal. It's not rocket science.

True story: my husband was sitting across the aisle from me on a flight, and the women in the seat next to him asked him if he knew of Bari Weiss. I just pulled my book up over my face to cover my chuckle as I thought - he's in for a hell of a plane ride.

I dunno - Cooke Monster with a food truck sounds like it could be funny AF.

I'm not in there either, and I've been in the feed for a while!

Not a political scientist. A political organizer. Which says it all.

Was in a meeting today where somebody said seriously - people vote because of the issues - and I could NOT hold my laughter in. Apparently they had been told this by some important person, and I just can't.

Yea - I don't need two sinks either. Nice but I 100% prefer somewhere to put my damn toiletries.

I too have done this, so now I check like ONE MILLION times - minimum.

Hard disagree with this take Mirya. Clearly you haven't flown through Logan yet. On Monday, we waited for close to an hour for our bags - only to have the belt break down, leaving our bags an area that was visible but inaccessible to us. Every time we go through there, it screws us in a new way.

Spelling is 100% my weakness. Spelling while lecturing is my kryptonite (<< I had to google that word to make sure it was spelled right LOL).

Our university did just this - right after I picked a password I hate. My dilemma now is whether I go through the hassle of changing or just stick with the stupid password I picked when I was pissed about having to change it yet again.

So I get this, but I don't wonder whether we ought to rethink what an apartment looks like? Would it be easier to convert office spaces to private bedrooms with shared kitchen, living, and bathroom space as opposed to an apartment? Trying to think outside the box here.

I know many/most faculty don't like to keep institutional schedules/calendars up to date, but my controversial opinion is that this kind of stuff could be avoided if they did.

You have broken the seal which is the MOST important step in grading. You have 100% earned that break.
