After the battle, the Duke of Wellington himself referred to Macdonell as "the bravest man in the British Army". We think that this miniature, sculpted by @hicksy.bsky.social, is a fitting portrayal of such a heroic action.

Hailing from the Highlands and best known for leading the defence of the Hougoumont farmhouse at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. In this depiction, painted by Kevin Dallimore, you can feel Macdonell leading his men in that valiant struggle to close the farm gates.
