First day of March Madness...let's freakin GOOOOOOOOOOOO! In our opening matchup, you must choose between Eddie Adams of Torrance and T.E. Lawrence of Arabia. It's PAUL THOMAS ANDERSON (1) vs DAVID LEAN (8). Vote: blankcheckpod.com/march-madness

earlier me and the bff were in my car listening to the bill simmons movie podcast and i made a joke and then bill simmons made the same exact joke and i screamed really loud

hysterically wept all through the robbie williams monkey movie though in my defense, i was the target (drug addict who just lost a grandparent)

david lynch this year queen? david lynch this year?

dad’s opinions on the trailers today - 28 years later: “is every movie just like this now??” (got jumpscared and screamed) - love hurts: “i’ll go see that. that’s data from the goonies.” - captain america: “red hulk! yeahh i’ll see that.”

the state of journalism is so dire. i just saw a clip from 2 years ago where an interviewer asked jeremy irons if scar is a “closeted gay lion”

davids- stay in line

we’re having productive work days

gonna start posting all of this “you won’t get it if you haven’t been abused” horse shit people are spouting about nosferatu about the matthew mcconaughey / anne hathaway thriller ‘serenity’ (2019) 21% rotten tomatoes 2.1 letterboxd average

wanted to see babygirl again tomorrow but my theater (still a county away) stopped playing it on wednesday

i love driving a distance to see a movie that is longer than the movie it’s like one of my favorite “grown ass woman” hobbies

love finally doing mcconaughey’s filmography. every reviewer starting in 2011 is like “THIS IS THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF HIS CAREER” gradually getting bigger, over and over, because they haven’t seen true detective yet. but i have seen true detective. several times.

disliked ‘dallas buyers club’ so strongly and not even really on moral grounds (rarely my thing) but mostly because it bored me to fucking tears

me and the bff have become obsessed with the bill simmons movie podcast over the last year. can just be really refreshing sometimes to listen to the most lukewarm awful takes for a bit.

gonna try to get to ‘babygirl’ again this week…..i think i’ll get it this time

‘babygirl’ (2024)……if nothing else, i was horny

logging onto letterboxd to give a movie like ‘the santa clause’ or something 1 star is just very silly to me 😭

for those keeping track at home i am back at work after bereavement leave (dead grandpa) and sick leave (extremely painful medical procedure) and now have the flu

all of his films are to some extent but ‘panic room’ especially is such a showcase of fincher’s exactness and detail. every single relevant detail is in the first 10 minutes, just barely noticeable in the background.

the thing about a death very close to you (something i have never experienced until this week) is that you have to keep remembering that they didn’t die for everybody in the world and that’s why everybody in the world is still going. it’s pretty much just you and a handful of people.

first two hours were borderline completely insufferable but the last hour really moved me
