Made even worse, I feel, by the fact that the game has a number of bugs present that make it difficult to navigate. A shortcut to bypass a flaming catapult section is made pointless because the catapult can launch boulders sideways for some reason. So you still have to go and destroy them.

Most of this is not accurate information. Raw potatoes are fine in small amounts. In large amounts they only have adverse reactions to some people, not all, and those reactions are usually related to minor gastrointestinal issues like vomiting, bloating, and diarrhea unless in extreme quantities.
