One thing they never tell you about getting an upholstery machine for pets is that have to clean the upholstery machine for pets. I have almost barfed a few times this evening.

Is there some sort of clear economic reason why produce at Walmart is so cheap right now? A few things were US (passed on those) but most were Canada and a few Mexican greens. 27 cent cukes 49 cent Roma tomatoes 1.50 10lb potatoes 4 10lb onions 47 cent sweet potatoes ??

A sitting president is lying on national television after tanking an economy in 24 hours and dangling WWIII in front of the press, and you hold a little sign? Jesus Christ almighty it’s all fucked to hell.

Since folks were so kind to respond to this, I’ll say that I’ve started keeping a “good reasons to still want to live in a society” list. It has been so helpful to show me that all those good things are still here. It’s a yes, and. We just have to fight for the good stuff. Sappy, but whatever.

Practically nothing will get me up and out of the house before 7:30 these days, but Shakira will 🫡

My hold on the new gothic vampire book is in so I have to hurry up and finish my classic gothic vampire book!

Okay if you are feeling the same, this thread absolutely lifted a few of my low feelings. Thanks, y’all! 💕

I am so good at looking on the bright side of things, much to others' chagrin some days, but I've been STRUGGLING to find the silver linings lately. If anyone has any hot tips, I am all ears.

Premier Tim Houston has issued a statement saying he agrees with the auditor general and will amend legislation. "Sometimes things become something that they weren’t intended to be, and I believe this is the case with the Auditor General-related amendments."

'Dismantling democracy" articles will be free (not behind paywall) @timbousquet.bsky.social says. "In times of crisis, the public needs critical information quickly. Public safety and our collective well-being come first. We’ll worry about how to pay for this news operation later."

All of y’all calling this false spring are truly delusional. But maybe that’s what you need right now so that’s okay.

A little late to the game but Paul McCartney on the SNL anniversary special wearing a shaggy mullet and a vest, playing the back half of the B Side of Abbey Road, which I said was “my favourite song” for over a decade, feels deeply indulgent.

Nova Scotia Auditor General Kim Adair said Wednesday she could no longer do her work as the legislature's fiscal watchdog if the Houston government gives itself the ability to fire her. #nspoli via Jean Laroche www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

The Houston government is repealing the ban on fracking in Nova Scotia. I had this exchange with Premier Tim Houston:

The legislature now has the power to keep auditor general reports private, and to fire the auditor general at will. Non-unionized government employee are now also at will and can be fired without cause.

Reducing sales tax and bridge tolls is the exact type of thing that we don't need right now. And only 200M put away for a rainy day (tariff issues)? Woof.

A cool thing that has happened in the last ten years or so is that all of the Sarah MacDonalds I went to school with have changed their last names because of marriage. Now, sadly, this does not account for any older Sarah MacDonalds or any Sarah who has married and changed their name to MacDonald.

Heritage Day honouree

Flared jeans are back, baby! But this time - for boys.

Today was the most Monday type of Wednesday. And it’s actually my Thursday? Going to make some soup about it.

I was in desperate need of something wholesome this evening and so I mainlined three hours of Call the Midwife. Honestly, great call. Highly recommend.

We are in the USA for a concert. My big observations so far are that Mainers skip the coat check by keeping their parkas on inside, and Maritimers just forego the coat and freeze the few blocks to the venue.

America is truly terrifying in many ways but I am drinking a Diet Coke with a plastic straw.

It was!

I am seeing The Brutalist this evening and I am already very sleepy. I am unsure how this will go.

I have been watching The Pitt, which is excellent and I recommend it. What I cannot recommend, however, is how often I have been breaking out into song, singing the fake Parks and Rec band, Mouse Rat’s, similarly named single, The Pit.
