Here's our new Number Pad notation symbol set! We decided to go with a pronounced/subdued literal map translation of the #fgc Number Pad Notation system to help newer players pick it up faster through raw context. Otherwise stay tuned for our awesome short hand Number Pad symbols for YOUR combos!

Not every user will use it, but one of our favorite features we've worked on in the past week was definitely the Joystick notation "ball" color customization feature! It's one of those features that's there for little smile moments, esp if you like to use joystick notation by default! 😍

Will try and post more and get out of the keyboard cave! Wanted to share the scope of data we have so far for fighting games in @start1up.bsky.social :

Let's go!

Happy hacking everyone!

FOR SCIENCE!!!

Pretty proud of how this project has all started to fall into place. It's been a journey. All of it started from a simple question: Can a modern web app be financially sustainable without exploiting anyone? Easier said than done. Seriously. But you know what? I think this DEFINITELY has a shot. 🀞

Ooooo! Hay so a question for the network: So far we've got 1 game that has 2 rendering styles! The game is Ultra Street Fighter II (exclusive for Switch). It has 2 art modes to play via settings. Are there any other fighting games with 2 art modes off the top of anyone's head? #fgc #start1up

For posterity

The cottage fight stick industry is the inspiration for the start1up web app! Please share and follow @start1up.bsky.social to support us for now! We're working a LOT to get things ready for an alpha soft launch, so joining in now is a powerful time to get involved. #fgc #start1up #fightsticks

It was really satisfying to finally implement this sorting feature. This app has super deep data and relationships, so filtering alone was a poor browsing experience. Now I have to ripple this through to all the other models in the app. Going to need more coffee.

Someday people will realize that once an AI entity could do everything for a human, it could also simply say, β€œno.” It’s not about what AIs can do *for* you. It’s all about what AIs can do *with* you. AI propagation <=> human dissemination www.aalto.fi/en/news/why-...

A weird little discovery in a current project, is this dance between data points being just data values, one <> many, or many <> many relationships. The discovery is how intrinsic hierarchical design decisions are to data evolving along those variations of complexity into many to many's. It's neat.

This one is kinda cool because I'm surprised how easy it was to convert a SPA tool from handling just a tier list of games to alternatively a tier list of a game's fighters in the same UI - with minimal duplication 1st try. Haven't refactored this yet, but still, huge props to @vuejs.org πŸ˜πŸ€“πŸ€Œ

Made a thing about a thing! Hope it helps someone!

Todays video is LIVE and lets talk Conan the Barbarian and the new big Mortal Kombat 1 Patch. New Moves & Balance changes and one big fat old lol to Reiko youtu.be/4rrInf9i3sQ

Vite 6.0.9 / 5.4.12 / 4.5.6 has been released with *breaking changes* due to security issues. I recommend upgrading it. Some users may need to update the config options. Please check github.com/vitejs/vite/... if you encountered any errors.

This tool is complex under the hood. I need to refactor it, & then figure out how to implement other types of tier lists - all/only for fighting games! It’s tricky to balance moving forward data entry work + app interactive work. But - when the data is finally done these tools become bananas 🀯🀯🀯

NGL... kinda excited about MVC2 in EVO 2025

Such a fun car to sim drive in. Huge props to the dev team for the interior on this one. 🀌

Hey go check out the community tab on the Rooflemonger youtube channel cause I am running a VF5 poll and the winner of the poll gets their own guide! Worked well enough for Tekken 8 so whoever wins the poll will get their own full on guide on top of the ones planned already.

Finally got around to playing through the first location levels in Tanuki Sunset from rewindgames.ca Great work, and I really want to team up with them to do a chill (heheh) luge game. I mean... Canada had to close the track at Calgary! :( so it would be super cool to gamify that track!

I think the fighter count is up to 1,100+. I wonder how many total fighting game characters there actually are?
