Ah, specials teachers too I guess. But still it seems off.

How do we have 1,919 teachers for 16,743 students yet many younger elementary classrooms have 26-28 students in them? That averages out to like 14 students per teacher. Even if you consider AAEA members include special ed providers, the math ain’t matching for me. Where are these teachers?

I’m glad Erica and Molly are okay. It was Haber getting in their faces my husband verbally objected to and caused Haber to try to start with him.

For anyone who still thinks Haber and his friends have good, even if perhaps misguided, intentions on building a civic commons for all — this is who he is, a bully who tries to get in people’s faces and resorts to physicality when someone dares disagree with him. #a2council

Geez, glad we left early. Another way busy families are discouraged from participation in civic engagement. Hard to be on time running from activity to activity.

We’re here. Barely found seat. Average age is I’m thinking 74.

So after this week the dream list includes: splash pad, cat cafe, and air-conditioned dog run area.
I cannot be walking the dog in this heat. 🥵 Or maybe 2 splash pads, one for dogs, one for kids.

Looking forward to just bringing our kids to Zion tonight (so we don’t have to pay $100-plus for a babysitter) where they will be glued to their iPads and Switch, while the olds tut at my “bad parenting” — an actual thing that regularly happens whenever I bring them to these sorts of things.

This picture of the family schedule for just the front half of this week might explain why so many civic engagement events tend to over represent the elderly. Can’t believe I had to add a library advocacy row for this summer to counteract the antis!

Just my admitted limited observation in the last 6ish years it’s is a lot of general “vote blue no matter who” and GOTV vibes and not gritty policy debates. But could benefit from younger leadership coming in. Maybe other #a2council folks have other perspectives.

AAPS does hold a lot of land relatively and makes real estate decisions that impact us, like the #a2schoolboard voting to buy land out from under a planned daycare because of “traffic concerns” near a middle school so yes YIMBYs should pay attention to that election and the Washtenaw County Dems.

They endorse whoever wins the #a2council primaries for November elections, so their impact really is felt in endorsing technically nonpartisan #a2schoolboard candidates, including Trustee Susan Baskett, who has been a NIMBY pain and generally unpleasant #a2schools trustee for years.

In my limited experience with Washtenaw County Dems, I feel like it leans older/ more NIMBY in their leadership and would encourage more #a2council YIMBY folks to get involved (while also not super involved myself bc kids, work life 🥴)

Oh no, you’re going to sell your rental properties you bought in 1986 for a song and therefore reset the cap on property taxes? Don’t threaten me with a good time. #a2council

I just redeemed it out of curiosity, and it is as I suspected; they don’t think we need speed bumps on Granger.
Will remove it from my ledger. I don’t want their points.

We chose happiness and took our kids to WD instead, but we drove by on the way back. Looks packed!

I cook so rarely, especially compared to you, it’s hilarious I’m giving you a tip, but have you tried Instant Pot? 5-5-5 method in Instant Pot only thing that’s ever worked for me.

I really would like to ask her when she last attended an event here to know the current building is meeting needs. Standing room only for many parents and grandparents assisting kids in a “dino dig” even on a beautiful day to be outside.

Half this town wears AADL shirts all summer long. You are bad at politics, ElNel.

Conveniently not in her dumb video is when AADL’s director was asked point blank by planning commission if AADL would ever outright sell their building if zoned D1. The answer was an unequivocal no, that AADL wants a downtown presence forever. #a2council

The more I look around, the more it seems like Packard is a stark dividing line on the CLUP. Tons of PtP signs in upper Burns Park, but Neighbors for More Neighbors signs seem more prevalent in LoBuPa.

Loons.

Burns Park has been targeted with the most fear-mongering messaging. They even handed out flyers at the elementary school drop off!
I’d venture many people with yard signs have little clue what they mean, but their neighbor told them some scary (wrong) thing and they didn’t want to be rude.

There’s an open survey on Ann Arbor’s transportation network, which notably allows you to map areas that are uncomfortable for you to travel in AND you don’t have to be a resident to answer.

The original post you replied to is me admonishing people who want to stop new housing in A2, which would prevent better access to the U’s educational and medical services, so why are you mad? I have idea how you think A2 has blocked access to UMHS. (The bridge needed repaired but remains open.)

And also Blues Clues when I found our fancy trifold for 4th ward CMs and the mayor today.

Sure. Both council and transportation commission have call-in options to enhance participation though.
(Why does this feel like a trap to rehash E Medical Bridge?)
Feel free to email Transportation Commission or call into tomorrow’s meeting: www.a2gov.org/engineering/...
