I love Hidden Brain. This episode from Feb '24 seems way off, given all that's happened since then. How you view an R or a D as an in-law is more about those party labels as proxies for a whole host of beliefs, not whether they'd always talk politics. dts.podtrac.com/redirect.mp3...

Of course the LA Times makes it look like a full on riot instead of showing that the mostly peaceful protesters were literally and constantly assaulted by ICE agents. The majority of fires that were started weren’t by the public but by ICE firing into the crowds and canisters starting fires. 🧵

Got it @nbcnews.com @cbsnews.com @pbsnews.org @nytimes.com ?

Hey, Mike... So you're saying the reason ICE agents is that they're afraid of catching COVID?

I dumped Elon. Didn't like the way he did my makeup...

I've got a new piece out on the astounding abuse of power from Missouri's AG and GOP lawmakers right now, all to try to undo the abortion rights constitutional amendment voters approved months ago—and also, how this should be a reality check on the tactic of "putting abortion on the ballot":

@kateconger.com surely you recognize this as a problem, right? Headlines have to convey the nub of the article. If it's that "Trump has lost his marbles," that's what the headline should say, perhaps toned down slightly, but not watered down beyond recognition or ignored completely.

But Biden's old... *sigh* open.substack.com/pub/aaronrup...

Putting this out there for mainstream media (you know, @nbcnews.com, @cbsnews.com, @pbsnews.org, etc). If the regime was a local police dept, its "pattern and practice" would have it under a consent decree (well, if DOJ was normal). Thx to @jenrubin.bsky.social. open.substack.com/pub/contrari...

I don't know who did this But I love it "LET'S GO TACO"🌮🌮

Someone else said something very similar to this the other day, but. It really burns me that our (millennials') generation was legally terrorized for like, downloading Radiohead discographies But we're supposed to be ok with billionaires stealing human intellectual output in its entirety bc AI

MUST WATCH: ICE kidnapped a disabled American citizen. Her name is Alma Bowman. Born in the Philippines while her dad served in the U.S. Navy. She’s lived here 48 years. They crashed her wheelchair, denied meds, cut her off from her lawyer—and jailed her. She. Is. A. Citizen.

Beyond parody.

TACO! Trump Always Chickens Out

"You been goofin' with the bees?"

That's easy: no cable. 😉

I think about investing in REITs (or REIT ETFs) on occasion, but the destruction of the single family rental market by private equity has me leary of the non-commercial REIT sector. What's good for me might well be bad for society as a whole. www.investopedia.com/passive-inco...

"This is what we were voting for!" From a friend in academia: >>I was with a public health professor from [major university] last weekend and he said that NIH is now euthanizing whole cohorts of animals from animal studies because there is nobody around to feed them<< Great work.

@hcrichardson.bsky.social took an early night last night but succinctly summarized three key issues from Trump's week: no longer publishing his speeches (non-transparent), erratic behavior (e.g., tariffs) & abandoning his most loyal voters (FEMA & Western NC). open.substack.com/pub/heatherc...

Fascinating article. Definite "must read."

1/ As promised, a 🧵on an interview with Richard Webby at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. He's been studying avian influenza viruses since they first started popping up in people nearly three decades ago. The article is behind a pay wall, so that's why I'm making a 🧵about it.

If the GOP Tax Scheme is so beautiful, then why are they voting on it in the wee hours of the morning? Maybe because it’s irredeemably ugly and cruel.

Definite "must read."

Let's say this horrible "big beautiful bill" passes the Senate and is signed into law. Could states not send that portion of taxes collected equal to, say, their reduction in SNAP funding?

It's Target's and Walmart's business how they want to respond to Trump's tariff regime. Heaven knows I'm no big fan of these big box stores, but they didn't start this fight. #tariffs www.npr.org/2025/05/21/n...

C'mon everybody, say it with me: #ClownPrinceTrump

If it wasn't a politically motivated stunt, there would have been no social media post. There might have been a press conference outlining the charges. After that, it would have been "no comment." I wouldn't be at all surprised to find Habba discussing the case on Fox News.

What is a "deficit hawk" is in the context of the current Republican party? Catie Edmondson of @nytimes.com classifies people like Paul Gosar, Lauren Boebert and others as such. Aren't they more properly considered political bomb throwers? Temper Tantrum Caucus? 🤷 www.nytimes.com/2025/05/20/b...
