For the Friday crowd, my YouTube episode where @smsaideman.bsky.social and I talk about the commitment to that NATO spending goal #cdnpoli

😄

I remember when this kind of stuff was disqualifying. Cuomo should get zero votes except maybe from incels.

When people support Andrew Cuomo, what they’re saying implicitly is that they don’t care about the women he’s already sexually harassed and retaliated against and they won’t care if he does it again. It’s a political stance that enables discrimination against women in government

The consensus among civ-mil folks is that the more a military does domestic repression stuff, the less ready/effective it is to the external security mission. Of course, politicizing the military has the same effect.

Remember when the GOP was "concerned" about the limits to free speech.... it was always bad faith bullshit.

Academics, we may have to do a book club. There is a fantasy novel about two grad students who go to hell to rescue their supervisor .... because they need letters of recommendation. Coming out in late August www.goodreads.com/book/show/21... h/t to @jowrotethis.bsky.social and Mallory Rubin!

Welcome to my Friday evening

Open defiance of the courts continues Federal judges need to start holding officials in contempt or it will only get worse

One fascinating thing lately is that some of the biggest conspiracy humpers have been put in positions where they have access to all the info to prove they were right all along and they discover, oh, shit, there is no conspiracy. Bongino and Gabbard have said as much.

The reason AI evangelists get angry when people say their tech isn't working as well as they promised (or, as @tressiemcphd.bsky.social puts it, is "mid") is the same reason I get cranky when my wife says my DIY plumbing isn't good enough. It's not. It's never going to be. And I know it.

Great job building the coalition for your strategic pivot.

Sure, sure, but that whole Russia collusion thing was fake, right?

We learned nothing from Iraq.

I'm pretty sure the successor era will have nothing to do with public interest

I am once again pitching my romantic comedy: - two academics start dating - discover they are each other's terrible reviewer - hijinks ensue Working title: Love is Double-Blind

Omitted context is one of the most powerful ways reporting is manipulated. For instance: 1. "Netanyahu said he attacked because Iran was under a year away from a nuclear bomb." 2. "Netanyahu - who has said every year for 2 decades that Iran was less than a year away from a bomb - said..."

It is weird and unhealthy for foreign policy to be a major issue in a mayoral election.

There are jobs in academia that do require ideological tests. You can find them at Hillsdale and any of the centers for “classical” thought, “liberty” institutes, and “civics” institutes. The milquetoast diversity statement requirements have nothing on what these guys require.

This just in: the “fuck your feelings” crowd not represented in the profession centered around discussing feelings

It wasn't even a lone wolf attack! There was a whole team involved!

The US is so fucked right now.

Guess she’s never heard of a sheriff.

The Expert Forum (aka the NATO side party) may last longer than the summit. Well, I am going for the Indonesian food anyway.

I believe this is what they call stochastic terrorism. I call it white supremacist terrorism inspired by the President and his party.
