Yeah that's future me warning past me not to start down this road.

I'm looking at that DiffEq milestone, hovering tantalizingly just (current estimate) 16 years worth of XP away.

It's continuously simplifying the fractions problems on me and I'm just yelling "stop patronizing me" at it.

Like I'm doing high school algebra/trig refresher and the algorithm very quickly course corrects me back to 5th grade.

It's the "don't be coy" that set me off. :)

I would say I do not believe REM and Steve Albini could occupy the same game tile without imploding.

I had this exact interview! At Decru! I didn't get the job.

ahh but could you do a mid-late-70s Petty and Dead Boys / Wire crossover playlist? Nobody's going to read this blog post at the end of the week anyways. And the right playlist might motivate me to write TEN posts!

See the thing is, I could just hit shuffle or whatever, but then I remember the last time I looked at my Apple Music Replay thing it said my most played artist was Tom Petty, and that will gnaw at me while I write the blog post. Nope that won't do.

(if you're wondering, it's not cryptocurrency or e/acc that freaks me out about Jane Street, it's OCaml)

It didn't read sad to me. More of a celebration of error.

LOL at the orange guy saying how much we suck because AWS was able to get GPUs working just fine for their customers. Sick burn.

I have space for like 2-3 real conflicts in my whole life, and only one of them is online. I have a bunch of siblings, it inured me to low levels of constant argumentation. It's never personal.

If you want us to have a fight right here and now we can discuss how straightforward it is to express a tree structure in idiomatic Rust. ;)

If you had emailed me I might have hated you.

Seems pretty tame? Esp. by HN standards? I think if neither of us ever talked about comparing Go to Rust, we wouldn't have much to disagree about. news.ycombinator.com/replies?id=s...

I do not hate you.

I mean not really, really I just spent an hour trying and failing to get JP to take the bait. But I'm still really happy with how it came out, and super thankful to have had the opportunity to work with him.

I think I'm just going to find ways to work Shaun Ryder into everything we write, like you just did.

I am never going to stop pointing out: Musk didn't just RIF Twitter by 70%+ or whatever; he also changed Twitter's goals, including revenue, which wrecked its valuation. Easy to shrink an org when you transform it from a business to a vanity project.

One thing I will say about this: in 2025, you're a CMD-C/CMD-V away from 4o just translating this to Python for you.

Literally the name of my Elephant 6 band.

Based on my current understanding of what is happening here, I am forced to acknowledge that this might, literally, be the funniest thing I have ever seen.
