update: so notion ended up leading me to a deadend. however, two good things happened - 1. I somehow found the XML file of the feed I used to use in Google Reader back in the day. SUCCESS!!! 2. I started using Feeder. Popular, supported, ad-free. tho limit for Free users is 200, Pro is affordable.
