Some big gusts arriving now. Definitely more than 50km/h. It’s roaring like 80+

HRRR is coming into range and shows 63 km gusts on Saturday, which is close to the 80km gusts the icon is still forecasting for the Sooke area.

Update: Apparently, I’ve been Dad’ing a little too hard lately (two beautiful autistic kiddos at home with me full-time heh) and didn’t realize that we weren’t even in range of the HRDPS or other high resolution models yet.

The other models have been increasing wind gust values over the past few days. Icon is generally very accurate for Sooke (for whatever reason), but can also make some big mistakes. We are going to be at the Sooke Winter Market and we will definitely be weighing down our tent extra heavily!

That looks like some of the powerlines up in the Sooke hills we used to 4x4 near… crazy wind required to blow one of those things down! Unless there was some sort of tree involved that I’m not seeing in the picture heh

Decided that I would repost my most recent tweet as my first post on blue sky, as it is still a little bit relevant since it’s still Friday. It’s great to see so many familiar faces on here 😊
