This alone should be grounds for terminating Ontario’s contract with Starlink immediately.

My office today was Bright Angel Park in the Cowichan Valley. Dr. Teresa Farrell and I are meeting in 3 locations there this week with #SD79 teachers who are alumni of @viuniversity.bsky.social and attended #place-based education field schools with us in the Fraser Canyon in 2018 and 2019. 1/2 #bced

Hello @viuniversity.bsky.social - if we want to jump on this “office horses” trend, the Faculty of Education will be needing an outdoor classroom / paddock next to building 356 please.

There’s been so much interest in from US 🇺🇸health workers and jobs in Canada that I’m posting recruitment links for all 10 provinces and 3 territories: 🧵 #healthcarejobs🇨🇦

Portuguese editorial cartoonist Zez Vaz (@zezvaz.bsky.social):

Unnerving how much new material for my "Death of Democracy?" course the US is generating these days.

Careful everyone! This post was being shared tonight. It's falsely attributed as a transcript of Hegseth's NATO presser. When others asked for attribution, the poster apologized and said he'd been taken in by a parody. See thread below on how we can't share what we can't immediately verify.

Hello American teacher colleagues. Now I don’t think you would anyway, but just in case… please don’t use this topic as an “open issue” for a controversial issues debates. The only path to statehood for Canada involves infringing upon our sovereignty and causing great harm. #sschat #edusky

The CHA Teaching blog is back up and running - every second Thursday. Reach out with questions and ideas!

Trains! Reviewing the CFP to see if there is any way that my research interests could possibly align.

Beautiful day at @viuniversity.bsky.social Deep Bay Marine Station for our round table discussion with several First Nations about kelp restoration happening in the North Salish Sea and discussing paths forward for collaboration and capacity building for community-led restoration✨🌊🌿

Eby: “I wanted to hit on a sovereign Canada” But then he saw the wounded US veterans enter the stadium. “I was like, man, they must be feeling so anxious about what kind of reaction they are going to get here. And I thought that was so awful they’d feel that way.” Empathy. Leadership. 👏🏼

Travel tips from a Canadian architectural historian? I will be following these blogs for sure.

I am begging all high school history teachers: review the three branches of government & checks and balances tomorrow. It's an unobjectionable civics lesson that will come in handy over the next few weeks as students witness things unfolding before them, when you'll need to explain much, much more.

DOGE is reportedly threatening NOAA with massive staff and budget cuts. NOAA houses the National Weather Service and National Hurricane Center, which produce forecasts and warn people about storms. This attack on public safety is ripped straight from the pages of Project 2025.

Holy. Angus Reid survey finds more Canadians are following Trump tariff threats "very closely" than those who said they were doing same for COVID-19. Pride in Canada also up 10 points angusreid.org/pride-in-can...

A few friends on FB have shared a post today that has a screen shot of a list of stats about migrants, fentanyl, and guns crossing borders in North America. The stats FEEL true, and very well may be. But we need to all stop and use caution with posts like this 1/... #bced #sschat #edusky

The AHA & the @oah.org have released a joint statement on the presidential executive order “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K–12 Schooling.” “We reject the premise that it is ‘anti-American’ or ‘subversive’ to learn the full history of the United States.” 🗃️
